Flattering gym wear

Hiya! Would any of you be able to a recommend a specific brand of gym pants that would flatter a short podgy girl like me? I just really dread doing the school run in my gym clothes because without high shoes and clothes that disguise my arse I look very short and stompy (well, I am short and need to lose a stone and a half after all!!). Any ideas anyone Blush ?

I like nike dri fit for the bottom half (I feel like I am the shape of a barrel ATM). They way they do their waist band seems to hold my tummy in! Technically they are good for wicking away moisture so super comfy too.

I like peak performance for my top half, especially if I?m feeling a bit vain and a pick me up, or any top that has panels. This web site is run by women and they review most things they sell pretty well. I?ve ordered from them quite a bit and been pleased.

Second the Nike Dri Fit bottoms - got a boot cut type fit - v. flattering (loads of people ask me if I've lost weight when I wear them lol)

Thanks for the info! The bootcut Nike Dri Fit bottoms sound perfect! Where can I but them?

We have a cheapy factory sports shop that sells seconds so I got mine for £7 but think you can buy them here or one of those big sports places you find in out of town retail parks!

I wear a lot of Nike, have the dri-fit running tights in capri and full length. They do indeed hold tummy in very well. I also have some Nike cropped joggers that if I described them would sound hideous but I cannot count the number of people who have commented on them being nice/asked where they are from. Capri length are much more flattering than full length on me.

On the top I mostly wear a ribbed gap tank for shorter workouts like spin as they are cheap and withstand a lot of washing. I like that they aren't as skintight as a lot of sports tops so look flattering with skintight leggings/tights. For longer workouts/cycles where I need something that wicks well/technical fabric I go with Nike dri-fit tops or adidas climacool ones.

I have some ronhill stuff too which is nice but the Nike stuff tends to get worn as first choice.

Best bet is to hit a sports shop or John Lewis and try on everything!

I like Sweaty Betty but they are a bit £££

Eugh, sweaty betty. Gym clothes for skinny people. I too would like to look nice in my gym gear. But noooooooo fat people cannot be seen in thier gear.

I wear the nike stuff, some stuff from M&S and whatever I can find at sports direct ot tk maxx.

You know I don't even go to the gym but looking for sportswear makes me feel I'm already losing weight!Grin

Nike website Agree with the above, also have Nike Drifit cropped leggings, but usually find that they are cut a bit small so have to size up!!Blush

If you shop via Quidco you can also get 9% cashback.

Just to mention - they were talking about The Skapri in the Times this weekend - have just ordered one for myself Grin

Whoamireally · 19/09/2010 13:06

And of course it's the leggings, not me Grin

ArribaArribaAndaleAndale · 21/09/2010 10:33

The Skapris are genious!

They've been despatched.....so I'll report back when they arrive Wink

Whoamireally · 24/09/2010 13:24

The Skapris are ultra light and really really comfortable, and I would also say true to size (I bought a size L and am a 16 IRL).

They are flattering but they do not stop you looking the size you are - so I look like a size 16 woman in capri pants with a bum length skirt over the top, and not like the size 10 woman I imagine I am in my head Wink
