Agonising over this dress... what do you think?

This is totally different from my normal style, but I feel attracted to it for work, with opaque tights. I tried a 12 on and it was a bit baggy - not shaped into my waist at the back like the photo is. They didn't have a 10 for me to try.

Is it meant to look baggy do you think? Or close fitting?

Is it ok for work (office) or am I wearing rose-tinted specs?

this one

I like the print, the problem is this is a computer generated image not a photograph so it's not a true representation of what it might look like in real life. I say this as I have so often liked something on the internet that has been totally disappointing in the flesh.

Anyway I think it would be ok for work, but then I'm not in an office.

thanks nimi

I may go back to shop and see if they have a 10 in on Saturday. I liked it, but it felt baggy in a 12. Not sure if its meant to be baggy.

I think you may tire of the print

SerendipityAlways · 16/09/2010 18:00

Sorry Niminyp - I dont like it, its a bit too loud for me to be honest. I wouldn't wear it to the office and also its 95% polyester, scratchy fabric etc. I think you could do better! As cyb said, I think this is a print you could get tired of very quickly.
Sorry!!

thelunar66 · 16/09/2010 18:11

Hmm - didnt think of that cyb.. I do tend to get bored with stuff quickly.

I like it. Get it. At once.

I was thinking of getting this one

Maryqueenofchocs · 16/09/2010 18:46

I like it, looks groovy.

notyummy · 16/09/2010 18:51

ooh, like the one the OP linked too, and yours Tethersend.

Need to keep the accessories/shoes low key with it though OP - could tip over into Pat Butcher territory otherwise.....

tethersend · 16/09/2010 18:52

yy to low key accessories- black opaques and black or grey patent shoes would work well.

LowLevelWhiinging · 16/09/2010 18:54

oh god MY EYES

TheNextMrsDepp · 16/09/2010 18:56

OP, it looks a bit "loud" to me, but some people carry things like this off very well. Tethersend's is nicer print, but don't know about the drapy bit.

I'm trying to find something similar myself but everything seems very "sack-like" at the moment.

Flighttattendant · 16/09/2010 19:02

I like the main print but the borders spoil it IMO.

They could have done much better with plain borders.

Flighttattendant · 16/09/2010 19:03

Tethers no that's evil.

Seriously.

upahill · 16/09/2010 19:11

Ok I like the dress but at that price it means the fabric is going to look cheap and nasty and not as nice as the picture IYSWIM.

If it was in a silk it would be better but the trouble with Wallis is that they try to be uber fashionable, use cheap materials and it just spoils the look.

Either leave it alone or spend a lot more on something of better quality is my opinion.

thelunar66 · 16/09/2010 19:48

I have tried it on. The fabric is suprisingly ok. Not scratchy. Quite heavy, so hangs well and would not ride up between legs when walking and wearing thick tights (a problem I get with thinner fabrics).

I seem to be a size 11 though... the 12 is big and sack like. Will try a 10 when I can find one, but I fear it may be tight over norks (34DD).

I am tall (5ft 8in) so it is quite short for an oldster like me.

Am still tempted though.
