In my mind H Samuel, Ernest Jones, Argos are all at the cheaper end of the scale with Swag, Beaverbrooks at the more expensive end. I assume the quality isn't quite as good at the cheaper shops or am I falling for the hype? I want to buy some jewellery but don't want to pay a premium for a fancy box/bag especially as that isn't what I will be wearing.

It is a present to myself and I am not sure yet. When we were first together DH bought me a ring from Argos for £20 and I was really upset when it had to be cut off when pregnant. These days he spends quite a bit more but I am buying this - whatever this might end up being - and I am unsure where to go really. We are going to Bluewater if you have any recommendations. I am a biased as my husband has worked for Beaverbrooks for 20 years. They have a reputation for being a very moral and ethical business who have won many awards for being a good employer. There jewellery is generally very good quality at a good price and they are always adding new stock to big ranges, so there's lots of choice. We now shop at Beaverbrooks after getting bad service from Swag even after buying several pieces of jewellery from them over a number of years. The girls I see in BB are lovely and have gone way beyond normal customer service to help me. I just wish I knew what I wanted!
