Boots again - black or brown? What shape??

What are the "rules" for winter boots?

I generally wear jeans, so I think brown is better, but then I guess for black trousers / smarter work clothes, black would be better.

I was thinking a smarter black pair with heals and chunky brown ones that are flat. What do you reckon?

Any recommendations? What is "in" in terms of smarter work boot style, I don't want to look too frumpy.

I think black heeled boots are sensible for 'smart wear' - they'll go with everything. As for worker style boots, I have <a class="break-all" href="http://allsaintsclothing.at/judypink?CTY=37&DURL=www.allsaints.com/women/footwear/damisi-boots/asphalt/wfo043-1585" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">these Damisi Boots from AllSaints, they come in both black and asphalt - which is basically just brown! They're super comfy and definitely worth the investment - I haven't had them off and it's not even Winter yet! Smile

Those boots are lovely, and I also really like the hannover ones. Perhaps a bit too expensive though Sad.

Any other ideas?

They are nice, but not quite what I was looking for I don't think. [not actually sure what I am looking for though].
