Just wondering what the fit is like, please. The blurb says mid-height waist - are they? Are they nice on and do they pull you in and up? Grin

They are an extra 40% off on the outnet at the moment if you are still interested.

Millie1 · 01/10/2010 13:48

Thanks HF, I know - I just got an e-mail. Bought them last weekend! They were a great buy for £62 but now they're thirty something. Oh well! Have just been looking to see whether there're anything else given they've such great discounts.

Are they nice on? Is it a 'smart' looking denim?

carciofi · 01/10/2010 14:19

James Jeans Hunter are nice, straight-leg jeans. I was tempted to buy the Randi jeans too. Are they jeggings though?

Millie1 · 01/10/2010 15:09

hf - yep, v. nice on. They are a smart denim now that you mention it. A real dark blue. Carciofi - no definitely not jeggings. I'd looked at the Hunters - what footwear for straight-legged jeans? I live in my long boots all winter and I'm not sure that straight jeans would go out over them. What do you think? At that price, they do seem too good a bargain to miss Grin

They are sold out in my size now. Grrr.
I wear the Hunters with ballet flats or Ash-style trainers. They are a good buy, I paid full price for them last year. :(

Hi ladies

I posted on the W & A thread about J Brand sizing but also wanted to ask about James Jeans sizing. I'm a tall size 10, slim hips & bum but bit of dreaded muffin top. I'm usually a 28 in jeans, but used to fit a 27 when Gap still did them. Have ordered the Randi jeans and some J Brand cords in a 27 and really hope they fit as so bargainous.... still have Randi in 28 as well so wondering whether to order both sizes. Sorry for hijack and thanks for any advice.

carciofi · 01/10/2010 20:16

Hi Thirstymerc, for J Brand I would size down but I find James Jeans are true to size (except for the jeggings, size down for those).

thirstymerc · 01/10/2010 20:21

Thanks for replying Carciofi...sooo am thinking I should have ordered the James Jeans in a 28 then? Reckon I'm a size 9 in jeans if that makes sense.

carciofi · 01/10/2010 20:23

27 should fit you, I am a size 12 and wear a 30 in James Jeans and a 29 in J Brand if that helps.

thirstymerc · 01/10/2010 20:35

You're a star Carciofi. Really appreciate you taking the time. Will give 'em a whirl. Have never had any premium denim. DH bought me a pair of 7FAM from New York a few years ago in a 28 but had to ebay them as they were too big Sad.

Millie1 · 01/10/2010 20:45

Thirsty - can you link to the J Brand cords please - are they straight/skinny leg? Really want a pair of skinny cords.

I'm a 10 and wear a 28 in James Jeans

carciofi · 01/10/2010 21:08

Thirstymerc, you won't go back to Gap!
Millie, I have these cords and they are fab.

thirstymerc · 01/10/2010 21:35

Hi Millie, it's these, but they are straight leg rather than skinny.

I have also just bought a pair of lovely skinny cords from Jigsaw, here. Might be worth a look.

Thanks for feedback re James Jeans sizing too. What shape are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm a 10 but am lacking in the bottom department so often find jeans that fit on the waist baggy on the bottom after an hour or so's wear.

thirstymerc · 01/10/2010 21:36

X posts with Carciofi!

Millie1 · 01/10/2010 21:48

Thanks Carciofi and Thirstymerc. They look really nice - and the Jigsaw pair too. Actually, the Jigsaw pair on the model wrinkle lots - I've another thread going re a pair I got from Kew which wrinkle terribly - I'm just packing them up to return. Might order one of your two pairs to try as an alternative.

Thirsty ... I'm 5'7, thin, an 8-10 and also have that dreaded muffin top. I've another pair of James in a 27 which fit nicely too. Last year's 7 for all Mankind in a 26 are just waaaaay to tight for me to wear this year - sadly as they were really lovely on. What have you ordered?

OP posts:
Millie1 · 01/10/2010 21:48

Oh, do you think the Jigsaw straightlegs could be worn inside boots Thirsty?

OP posts:
thirstymerc · 01/10/2010 21:59

Millie you are very similar in size/shape to me. I've ordered the James Randis and the J Brand cords I linked to both in a 27. The James Jeans are such a bargain and I'm worried if the 27s don't fit I won't be in time to exchange them. What size did you get?

The jigsaw cords are pretty skinny on me and I've got slim legs. You'd definitely be able to wear them inside boots. I haven't worn mine yet though, so am now a little worried about the wrinkle factor. Hmm

thirstymerc · 01/10/2010 22:02

..meant to say though I did also try on the Kew cords in John Lewis at the same time I bought the Jigsaw ones and the Jigsaw were a much better fit. Am going to wait and see what the J Brand cords are like and might return the Jigsaw ones as not sure I need 2 pairs of black skinny cords.

Millie1 · 01/10/2010 23:04

Brilliant Thirsty - thanks! Think I'll order the Jigsaw cords (shall have to start hiding the couriers/postmen from DH Wink).

I ordered a 28 in the James. Can you order both 27 and 28 and just send one back? It sounds like you and I are very similar in shape - right down to slim legs!! Grin

Millie - Just an update on the Jigsaw cords. I tried them on again last night. There is some wrinkling at the knees which I hadn't really noticed when I tried them on in the shop. To be honest it doesn't really detract from the look of them. Maybe it's because they're black Confused...I'm not sure but I think they look worse on the model who looks like she's wearing a size too big IMO. Also, should say they're not skin tight on me, but would definitely wear them tucked into boots. Good coverage of the muffin top though Grin.
Yes I might just have to order both sizes in the James. I'll be gutted if they are lovely and I can't do them up!
Know what you mean about the frequent deliveries too...on the plus side our postman's rather nice looking Blush

Millie1 · 02/10/2010 09:53

Thirsty - thanks for that, you're brilliant! Grin. I thought they looked a bit big on the model. The Kew cords are well fitted (ie. tight enough on me) but they really really wrinkle - worse than on the Jigsaw photo. Shall do a sneaky order this w/e ... can't say the same of our postman as she's a very nice postlady!! Grin Keep us posted about the Randi's!

OP posts:
thirstymerc · 02/10/2010 12:45

I've amended my order to a 28 in the Randi's as they can't add to existing orders but can amend them Hmm. Are they quite tight/skinny leg on you and a good length? (I'm 5'8) Am sticking with a 27 in the J Brands as I've heard they come up bigger usually. Do you have any J Brand? Is frustrating as not easy from where I live to get to a RL shop to try on.
Hope the Jigsaw ones are a good fit. Will let you know. Very excited Grin. Silly about a pair of jeans I know!

Millie1 · 02/10/2010 14:12

I'm 5'7 Thirsty and they're plenty long. They are quite tight on my leg so are fit for purpose Grin. I'm like you and don't have any nice shops anywhere nearby - you'd have to go to about 3 towns to get any sort of a selection. I ordered my Randis last week and they came really quickly - was going to wear boots for first time today but didn't want to waste my new jeans on a trip to the local co-op! Enjoy!

Thirstymerc, sorry, I am a knucklehead, have just checked my James Jeans and I am a 29.
