My 7yr old needs to take money daily to school for lunch/snacks....all the kids wallets i have seen have the smallest part for coins with loads of space for notes and credit cards which a 7yr old doesnt have.

Can see loads of zipped purses for girls, but nothing i can send him to school with.

You may have to think laterally - small pencil case? Or toiletries dept?

I currently use this as my purse as I can't seem to have nice purses. Am superstitious after THREE occasions of buying brand new beautiful purses and then getting them nicked straight away Sad

TheSistersGrim · 11/09/2010 14:08

mouse?

AllBuggiedOut · 11/09/2010 15:41

Have had the same problem for my boys. There's a gap in the market! I'm sure Disney used to do zipped tin coin purses but I can't find them online. Is this recycled one any good?

AllBuggiedOut · 11/09/2010 15:46

Still looking! I rather like this very traditional one.

Adair · 11/09/2010 19:28

Well here is cheaper. Reckon a quick trawl of the market/pound shops would do it.

bethjeff · 11/09/2010 19:28

i like the traditional one. It's exactly what I would have chosen.

Adair · 11/09/2010 19:31

Really? For a 7 year old?

bethjeff · 11/09/2010 20:04

I don't think 7 year olds really bother about taste or design... unless favourite colours or characters are involved.

You wouldn't want to get him anything too grown up.

That is the kind of purse my friends and I had as children. Functional, smart for school and cost effective

booyhoo · 11/09/2010 20:09

i had one like that as a child adair. in fact i think it is still at my mums house somewhere. i like the recycled on that allbuggiedout linked to. i know my ds would love it but he is 5.

Adair · 11/09/2010 20:19

Ooh, I suddenly remembered a leather coin purse I had as a kid with a little cat on it, it opened up like a square... I loved it! Actually, anything small is quite covetable as a kid, isn't it?

beccagrace2 · 11/09/2010 20:29

my ds6 has a toy story one with a zip, sorry no link, im feeding so 1 handed!

serin · 11/09/2010 21:27

Visitor attractions are often good, got my boys purses at Chester Zoo and Jodrell bank.

chimchar · 11/09/2010 21:35

There are loads on eBay. Search for emo purse or similar and see what comes up. I have one each for my kids. Black with stars, one black with yellow smilies. That the kind of thing you're after??

PacificDogwood · 11/09/2010 21:40

Oh, thank you for this thread! I thought is was just me, struggling to find something for my boys' lunch money.
I love the small leather coin trays, but I thing the boys will like the recycled ones more.

thanks for all the suggestions, i think the black leather coin purse is a bit too grown up for him. I found a couple on ebay, a toy story alien, spongebob and a handmade cath kidston cowboy print one. I've ordered the cowboy one, he chose.

Oddly i couldnt find a football one, which would have been suitable for a wide age group.
