going in a week. I dont want to spend days traipsing around and I dont want to buy stuff that I can get as cheap here.

Has anyone been recently?

So far I have Levis Curve jeans (they look about half price)and Uggs for my mum.

The Mac and benefit make up looks about the same price.

Any suggestions? Not high range designer stuff!!

We wont have time, unless I skip the Grand Canyon and the wine tour, both are full days. Have you been to the Grand Canyon?

I think I will stick to Union square and just off it for the shops.

I wont rely on the airport and, hopefully, it will be crap as I will be broke by then!!

Personally, would definitely go for NYDJ jeans, which I'm a fan of, and are significantly cheaper in US. A wider range of styles too.

Yes, Grand Canyon is good. You can't do everything Smile

If driving there from Vegas, you'll probably go over Hoover Dam which is worth seeing and justifies the long hot drive somewhat.

mathanxiety · 13/09/2010 15:15

Bryce Canyon is spectacular too, but maybe a bit out of your way.

mummytime · 13/09/2010 15:52

Grand Canyon is great, but if you go from Vegas for a day, you won't get the full experience. I think you just go to the West Canyon, not the main Canyon site. Bryce is wonderful but even further East. Actualy I love that bit of the US, we've been twice and even the kids would like to go back.

We weren't as impressed with the wine tours (and if you have kids do make sure they don't ask for a sip, its highly shocking :) ).

Now, I just have to decide what to travel in. I hate long flights!

Sorry,I didn't mean to give the impression all Vegas shopping was rubbish. I just didn't enjoy the out-of-town mall.
As someone said, the main Fashion Show mall is nice (huge, though). And you really get service, which feels odd for a Brit - they fall over themselves to tell you the offers, and patrol the changing rooms asking if anyone needs another size!
Take your passport, though - they don't ask for it in all the shops but you could get caught out, as I did, and it's a long haul back to the hotel.
Make sure you go and see Caesar's Palace - Cher's costumes are on display and the decor is amazing. Likewise the Venizia, with its own gondola and Venetian-style square complete with fake sky!
There's a fountain show I think at the Belagio, and the Cirque Du Soleil shows are out of this world.
Have a great time Smile.

do not skip grand canyon for shopping

skip shopping and go to bryce or spend more time at grand canyon. stay there so you get to see sunrise and sunset or go down canyon a bit

you can shop anytime, you will never see natural wonders like that ever again in your life

sorry i know its not in the spirit of the S&B threads but i had to tell you Grin

kittya · 16/09/2010 23:56

Oh, thanks for that. Ive been told the only way to fully appreciate it is to get a helicopter. I cant really afford that as its a holiday with the girls, a honeymoon maybe!! We can get the bus to the west rim, is that ok do you think?

Should I skip shopping in Vegas and save it all for SanFran? I dont really NEED anything tbh, unless its a real bargain.

see here

what about a mule trip or a ranger led walk? there are bus tours as well

I dont think it woudl be much fun to go on a bus trip for the day from las vegas - its about a 4 hour drive IIRC - you shoudl at least stay overnight.and its on the way to CA. how are you travelling from las vegas to san francisco?

if i had the chance again i would spend ever last penny of my holiday money on adventures like that and not on jeans

sorry didn't mean to hijack your shopping thread Grin
