My dh's latest mag is out and they are revamping the website - it is his passion rather than job so not a commercial venture ... one day we hope it will be!

Retro Magazine Issue Five

Please be honest - it's the only way to improve (tho' please be kind enough to say what you like as well as what needs improving as a lot of work has gone into it). He is always keen to here ideas and suggestions for new features.

I think it looks great. I love all the different fonts on the main stories and it is quite simple and easy to read mainly. It's a really interesting idea for a magazine. ... if you are interested in what I didn't like... the black lines round the pictures on a couple of the pages looked a bit... out of place? The editors letter page was a bit difficult to read!

Just wanted to say what a HUGE improvement- the mag has come on in leaps and bounds; particularly the interior features.

The fashion pages are brilliant.

Tips for improvement:

-Keep the pictures of what people on the street are wearing; it was a really good feature.

-I think the font needs sorting out. The type needs to be smaller or more dense I think- having proper columns of text would take it up a notch in the professional stakes. Also not keen on the font used for headings.

-The white background on so many of the pages gives the magazine a 'cold' feel, and doesn't do the features justice; particularly the objects/gadgets pages. Try using vintage wallpaper as a background with each object in a 'frame' for example. Each page needs a themed layout IYSWIM. At the moment it looks a little bare and amateur.
Perhaps copy some original magazine layouts from different eras?

All in all, it looks really professional and now just needs tweaking- a great achievement, am impressed

Thank you for looking at the mag and posting comments. Dh really values the MN feedback as friends tend to be kind rather than objective.
