Dont have an alternative, but if it helps those types of wrap-and-hold-with-a-belt coats are generally as flattering as wearing a dressing gown in public.

Tethersend - I love the Mint Velvet one, but it's no good, FGM has ruined it for me and all I can see now is bathrobe.

And I suppose a winter coat that only looks good when worn open is rather missing the point.

perhaps a waterfall cardi would fulfil your desire for the the loose disengaged look whilst leaving you enough to spend on a proper winter coat that actually keeps you warm. PS glad to save you £400!

Am going against the grain - the WC coat is beautiful. Really beautiful. Look on eBay and be prepared to wait? Else Hobbs do something similar in red and also camel. A gf of mine has a similar style coat and she always looks wonderful in it. Admittedly she is thin, but still. Luxe lush lovely.
