So I was completely fed up with my wardrobe and I'm due to go back to work in 2 weeks so need to divide things back into work uniform and weekend stuff.
I don't seem to own a decent pair of trousers so a couple of work pairs and jeans in a must but what else? I've going for layering this winter I think
plus I need some new boots...
any advice ladies?

Have just done something similar, and here's what worked for me ...

Think colour first, and wander round a shop looking at what they have before deciding and thinking about what suits you. I chose a colour scheme of one neutral and one colour - for me that was black and purple.

So - I bought trousers, a skirt and a dress in black. Already had a black jacket and black leggings and black boots.

Bought a purple print tunic. And purple jeggings. And a purple cardi.

And lots of Uniqlo heat tech tops as they are so cheap and layer underneath practically anything. Got them in black, purple and pink. Also got a cashmere polo neck, a cardi (black) and then went a bit off-message and bought a bright blue twinset (twinset!).

And finally - fantastic accessories which for me means a scarf and a handbag. Already have jewellery that goes.

Good luck! Great fun. It's so nice to stand in front of my wardrobe in the morning and only have to give minimal thought to what to wear - it's great when the hardest thing to do in the morning is choose your jewellery!

Cruella is right - colour is key when creating a capsule wardrobe. I would choose one colour that works for you (I use blue in many shades)and then buy items in black, grey and neutrals... by doing this you will be able to mix and match the items in your wardrobe and get much more wear out of things.

Also good to think in terms of work and play. My work wardrobe consists of a pair of slim leg blac trousers, a dark grey wide leg pair, a black shift dress and a dark biscuit pencil skirt. I mix and match these items with a white shirt, long sleeve breton Ts for more casual days and cardigans in blue, grey and beige.

I have 3 pairs of jeans - a slouchy pair for casual days with the kids, a straight leg pair that can be dressed up or down and a skinny pair. They are all great with Ts, tunics, knits etc...

Remember that accessories are a good way of changing your look without spending a fortune. I have scarves, belts and shoes that I mix and match.

Have fun Smile
