Question for anyone who gets their hair dyed professionally.

When the hairdresser removes any dye on your skin with the removing lotion do they then rinse your skin?

Reason I ask is that I had my hair dyed at a salon for the first time 2 weeks ago. Some of the dye was on my forehead around my hair line so the junior gave me cotton wool soaked in some removing lotion (which smelt similar to nail varnish remover) and got me to do it myself. All the dye came off but the next day I was left with very sore skin which felt a bit burnt. 2 weeks later and I look like I have a pretty bad case of dandruff as the skin continues to flake away. I called and complained the following day but they just said they'd never heard of this happening before and advised me to use E45 cream on the skin. I'm planning on going back to show them how bad it still is but I'm wondering if the problem is that they didn't rinse my skin after the remover?

Let me think.

They remove dye traces on my skin and then my hair is rinsed and wahsed so my skin becoms wet then.

Tell them next time not to use the remover on your skin. I've found that any dye stains that are still there when I get home, can be easily removed with my usual simple cleanser.

No, I don't rinse my skin after the reMover is on . My skin is often flaky afterwards but I put that down to the dye rather than the remover but it's never red and inflamed.

Did you have a skin test before your hair was coloured?

Same here use a acetone type remover don't rinse- does leave skin a bit red.

Yes, had patch test before and no problems. Definitely think that the remover was the issue as the skin is peeling/flaking only where it was used. Will need to ask them to be more careful next time and rinse my skin after.

Thanks for all of your responses.
