Who wants to be my personal shopper with £££ to spend?

sorrento56 · 04/09/2010 17:21

I am 5 foot 6.
Over weight at 12 1/2-13 stone.
36G breasts.
Good bum.
Fat calves.
Muffin top.

I am a full time mum who has never really been fashionable. I want to look nice but not feel overdressed in the playground.
I love jeans, really want to wear more dresses and would love to be able to wear a just below the knee skirt with my knee high black boots.

size? 14 - 16?

sorrento56 · 04/09/2010 17:23

I knee I had missed something out!

14-16 on the bottom.
14-18 on top depending on the shop.

I am hoping to lose weight too so things that would still work if I manage it.

£££ to spend.

Hello my lovely Grin

Right well I'd start with the following for AW

  • Good pair of jeans
  • Some boots
  • Nice coat
  • Couple of dresses
  • Some tops

How old are you and whose style do you like?

sorrento56 · 04/09/2010 17:29

[grin]@traceybath.

I am 38 and would have to think about who I like. I am rubbish at the clothes lark.

www.next.co.uk/womens-jeans jeans

www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Skirts/Above-Knee-Skirts/WG378/Womens-Upbeat-Wool-Mini.html?NavGroupID=13 skirt - above knee with boots and thick black tights - looks great imo

www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Dresses/Above-Knee-Dresses/WH226/Womens-Casual-Dress.html?NavGroupID=4 i love this dress for casual - with boots for winter

my advice would be to avoid shirts with bottons - becuase when you are big on top unless the fit is just so - it ends up gaping and you look awful, so keep to jumpers or buttonless tops.

thats all i can be bothered with

however i would say - splash out on a stunning 'classy' classic winter coat.

when i was fatter i loved winter clothes, heavy skirts, thick tights and a lovely coat, always made me look good

Thanks custardo - I can't get the Next link to work, I like the Boden skirt but not the dress. You are so right about the shirt and button thing. I once walked all around the supermarket with my button undone showing a bra and wondered why men were looking at me Hmm.

Off to look at yours now traceybath, thanks.

traceybath - I have never paid that much for jeans but think I would for the most perfect ones....... The dress I love and the top is definitely a potential. Thank you Grin.

spanx are good and the slip is very good at just general smoothing out.

Jigsaw, the white company and kew have some nice drapey/skim fitting type stuff. Zara also worth a look and now online.

Assuming you have good underwear.

Duo good for boots.

sorrento56 · 04/09/2010 18:22

I have good underwear having recently got help from here and discovering I needed a G and not an E cup Shock.

I am wondering about some completely flat knee high boots as the ones I have have a heel. Is Duo online only?

They have a shop in London and Bath.

sorrento56 · 04/09/2010 18:30

Oh, not that near but will bear it in mind when I am next in London.

DH likes the top better and I like the dress more. :).

I am a similar shape and I can never get anything in Zara to fit me.

Agree with you on the casual Boden dress, its not flattering on at all if you have boobs this, on the other hand, really is.

www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Dresses/Knee-Length-Dresses/WH215/Womens-Jersey-Tea-Dress.html?NavGroupID=4 I was really surprised how slimming it is.

Also, if you want a straight jean I find that theirs fit really well and arent too low waisted. Make sure you use the spend £30 get a tenner off code though!!

Ive just got the new Kew catalogue through the door and there are some lovely dresses in it.

sorrento56 · 05/09/2010 14:55

I really wanted to like that Tea dress but it just doesn't do it for me. Thanks anyway. :)

I was pleasantly surprised because I get that it looks middleaged but, when you put it on it does flatter, especially with chunky jewellery.

Try Kew though as well. Its abit younger.

MrsC2010 · 05/09/2010 20:12

I love that tea dress, I'd have it in every colour.

kittya · 05/09/2010 21:01

I have the blue
