the only haircut that dosn't make his hair stick up all over the place is a grade 4 all over. i HATE it. it doesn't suit him at all. he has a wee round face and this just makes it look worse. i want to grow his hair out but i don't know what will look good on him. any suggestions? what do your boys have? do any of them have unobliging hair?

My dd has the same problem. She'll hate it when she's older. There's nothing I can do with it. She has it long and I try to style it for her but it's difficult.

QwertyQueen · 04/09/2010 00:37

cant offer any advice except to say I have the same thing! you get used to it!

ForzaDelDestino · 04/09/2010 00:37

my youngest doesn't have cowslicks but he has a triple crown ffs

he has longish layered hair, to past his ears, collar length really; it has a wave because of the tripleness

a bit boden boy Blush

I have exactly the same, 2 cows licks, 2 crowns.

I have learnt to love the one style I can have, which is short at the back, long at the front, with a side parting.

Actually love my hair now, has taken years to get a style that looks good thou.

My lovely DS has a massive cows lick, I mean huuuuuge!!

He used to have it long, in a kind of 'curtains' style (though not tragic 90s type curtains style) but now I have it cut short. Not grade 4 though. Have some length at the front and it just sort of whooshes up! He looks like Tin Tin!

Try growing it long. Persevere, see how it looks. Normally the weight of long hair holds down cow licks and weird crowns - mine has.

booyhoo · 04/09/2010 00:46

last orders ds gets called tin tin all he time and he looks at me to explain what that is. he knows it is making fun of him but he doesn't understand what they are saying.

when he was a toddler he had it longer and the cows lick was invisible but his hair is a lot thicker now. i think we will have to grin and bear the untidy thickness for a few months til we get to the nice weighty floppy hair. my family have real dislike of boys with long hair. every tim ei try to grow it they start commenting and i cave to the pressure and get it cut.

Hi Booy, didn't realise it was you who had started thread - I'm a bit unobservant tired tonight!

Don't bow to the pressure of cutting his hair. DS1 & 2 have same hair issues. We grew their hair and then started having it cut into a long, choppy style once it thickened up. It has the look of being short but the actual layers are quite long, iyswim. Go to a salon rather than a barber. Both have gorgeous hair IMO. Personally cannot abide the "regulation" boys' haircut of clippered style. Yuck.

WingDad · 04/09/2010 02:16

Forgive me, but what's a double crown? I know this might be a really stupid question, but we've never had problems with our kids' hair so clearly missed out on the terminology!

bruxeur · 04/09/2010 04:30

This should explain all...

mousymouse · 04/09/2010 08:26

ds has a big cowlick and a big crown. we have to keep the hair relatively long or it will stand up.

I have it as well, I cannot wear a fringe and keep my hair at least shoulder length or I have long hair sticking out at the back of my head and on my forehead.

lillybloom · 04/09/2010 08:35

I agree with mm. My ds1 has the same trouble. the hairdresser told us to keep it very short or grow it long. Luckily DS1 loves the disney channel so has his hair like this.

works out quite nice

booyhoo · 04/09/2010 11:11

yep, tis I lastorders.

i am going to grin and bear it and ignore the clipper brigade.

wingdad, you know the swirl at the back of your head? well a double crown means you have two of them and the direction of hair growth 'originates' from two points meaning the hair doesn't fall naturally instead it sticks up.
