Are tunic and leggings appropriate for teaching?

I'm in a pickle. I'm 6 weeks pregnant and nothing from my work wardrobe fits!!! :(
I can't get my maternity wear out as I'm trying to keep it quiet till after the scan and it is quite obvious it's maternity wear.

Can I wear leggings and tunic to teach in or do you think it's a bit too casual?

Any ideas how I can manage for the next 6 weeks?

suppose it depends where you teach. In a corporate setting of some kind, I don't think it would be formal enough. At a school, why not

`don't you have some maternity trousers (with the stretchy gusset or whatever it is called , the inset in the front? If you wore a longish top over that, who would know it is maternity wear?

I went to dd's secondary school and some of the younger teachers were wearing that - it was fine because they had quite formal-ish tunics on (not just cheapy Primark t-shirts) and a nice scarf and chunky jewellery.

Also the tunic went a good way past her bottom and could indeed have been a nice short dress with leggings adding modesty underneath.

If the tunic and accessories are smart then you can get away with leggings.

zzzen - my maternity trousers are either wide elastic bits around hips- which are very noticeable or they have the up and over bit which would be fine in a month or two but I don't look pregnant yet- just rounder and a bit fat. Because I'm usually quite slim my work stuff didn't stand a chance!

Might try out the leggings tunic scarf combo and see.
Suppose I will have to wear something and if I'm pulled up on it I'll have to tell all.

Thats what i mostly wore to work when i was pregnant, (i teach in a primary school). If you can get the longer leggings they work great in autumn/winter with flat boots. I had black ones and brown that i mixed with nexts coloured maternity long tops. Also bought a grey and a brown long cardigan and with scarfs and stuff got loads of outfits from that!
