John Lewis stuff comes up massive in my opinion. ie shorts aged 2-3 are more like 3-4. Does that help....

Yes thank you so is 2-3 3 years then, do you have any experience with there shoes also ds wants the dino shoes hes 9.5 in clarks so not to sure which size to get as they alternate so much with different brands

yes if it say 3 it means 2-3. i don;t want to put a spanner in the works so to speak but i found jl clothing comes up small on my children.
dd1 is 4.6 and in an 3-4 in most shops but always a size 5 in jl.

IWillNotNeverEatATomato · 03/09/2010 14:36

what you might find is that the sizes can be rather mixed,
seeing as they stock a number of different labels,

therefore I have had stuff which was massive and other things which have been far too small.

e.g. we bought a JL coat and it was supposed to be 3-4 and it was way to small for my DS1 who was a very skinny 3yo
but also had a coat for DS2 which said 0-3mths and it was massive and didn't fit him till he was over 3mths and he is a chunky baby

but they have been really quick with returns and refunds

yes my answer was with regards to jl own brand clothing, other brands size differently. joules for example come up small as well.

The3Bears · 03/09/2010 21:54

Thank you for the help i'll try the 3-4 and hope its ok then :) Thanks :)

My DS is 7 and is average height and pretty skinny. Just bought him a duffle coat for winter from their own range - went for age 8. JL tops I bought age 7 and they fit fine.I would definitely advise buying correct age or a size up if single sizes as I think they come up a bit smaller that Boden, Next etc..

amazonianwoman · 04/09/2010 22:34

I think JL own brand stuff is very small! DD wore a JL coat age 7 last winter when she was 5.5, don't think it will be long enough now (6.3) She is taller than average (but not as tall as an average 7/8 year old) but skinny. All her dresses/tops from JL this summer have been age 7 or 8.

DS is almost 3.6 but wearing age 5 shirts/t-shirts, age 6 underpants Shock and I've just bought him age 4 school trousers that might not be big enough around the waist (he won't try them on)

I do love JL clothes though!

I have used JL stuff for past 7 years for my 4 kids and I would definitely say they come up small in size. Go for the bigger size.

ppeatfruit · 05/09/2010 14:47

I would have the shoes fitted;J.L has a good fitting service their sizes are interesting as well.
