what do think? Ive found that this style is usually good for me. A size 14, big on top.

The thing is, I dont own anything navy. What shoes would you wear? bearing in mind I cant walk far in heels!!

Lovely dress.....tan wedges?

kittya · 03/09/2010 10:03

I havent thought about tan. Has to be something I can walk in though!! I may go down to Office later.

Great dress.

I have a collection of four navy dresses from this summer though I'd never buy silk (toddlers!).
I wear two tone tan sandals with mine or dullish gold/pewter would look nice.

Doodleydoo · 03/09/2010 10:25

Also don't be afraid to wear black shoes if they are textured - I have some black snakeskin shoes and wear them with shorter navy dresses (knee high) as they are far enough away to not be too noticeable, although what Morag says!

minibmw2010 · 03/09/2010 10:50

I saw a lady try this on yesterday in House of Fraser (in the bright blue colour) and it looked fantastic .... go for it !! Love Whistles.

tulpe · 03/09/2010 11:17

I wear loads of navy. IMO you can wear metallics, tan, navy (obv!), red, and black if textured as recommended by Doodleydoo . I wear black suede or patent leather.

kittya · 03/09/2010 11:44

Do you think heels?

OP posts:
Doodleydoo · 03/09/2010 12:29

Definitely heels!

btw tulpe I am most jealous of your wardrobe choices of today Wink

kittya · 03/09/2010 20:12

I have this dress!

Because the exposed zip at the back is gold, I never wear it with anything silver, so it's worn mostly with gold flat sandals during the day and at night, it's a pair of tan woven leather peep toe slingbacks or a pair of greige strappy heels from CdC

nancydrewrocked · 03/09/2010 20:35

I love the dress except the way the hem rises at the front. I personally think a low top and a rising hem look a bit much together.

Having said that it doesn't seem so pronounced on the navy version so maybe it is the way the model is standing.

Would be perfect with nude court with slight platform or if you can do really high

these are nice - minus the bow which is detachable and are suprisingly easy to walk in

thisisyesterday · 03/09/2010 20:37

it says it's out of stock anyway

nancydrewrocked · 03/09/2010 20:37

Oh, no its not!! I ordered it today from the lovely Whistles people in Brighton. I swear I think they are the nicest and most helpfull sales assistants I have ever encountered. She recommended red or tan with it. I havent seen any red around.

I love this style nancy. This is my third dress from Whistles and they are all similarily shaped. They flatter me as I am quite womanly!! (a good 14), they suit my bust size and Im lucky that from the knee down I have not bad legs. I didnt realise it had a gold zip. That changes my jewellery options!!!

Seriously although the shoes look ridiculously high they are actually quite comfortable - I was bought them in black as a pressie and was a bit Shock but I can even run upstairs in them!

kittya · 03/09/2010 22:03

I bet you are one of those women that was born to wear heels!! they are very lovely.

OP posts:
nancydrewrocked · 03/09/2010 22:24

Those Office shoes are a ok - but I don't love them - I just don't like the aesthetics of mid height stilettos although appreciate inifintely more practical...

Lower heels look better if they are chunky IMHO.

I did see some lovely nude coloured round toes with slight platform which were about that height but with a cone shaped heel in carvella.

kittya · 04/09/2010 01:59

you like your shoes dont you? Smile. I get what you are saying about the office ones.

I suppose I will have to drag myself to Brent Cross tomorrow. The horror, on a Saturday!!
