80's party

Not really 'style' exactly, but I'm supposed to be going to an 80s party tomorrow (although I don't really want to go). What do you think I should wear? I am a bit stuck. Don't suggest anything outlandish as I don't have time/money to go shopping, I need something I can pull together from stuff I already own.

Any inspiration?

Could you rustle up some leg warmers? (chop the arms off an old jumper?)

And quite a lot of makeup, iirc, in an un-subtle way

Yeah - I've got the picture in my head now (lovin' the jumper arm leg-warmer idea btw)

All I have to do now is see if I can find some orange lipstick or something equally horrible.

Went to an 80s party at the weekend and all the women bar 3 seemed to wear neon legwarmers, fingerless gloves, bangles and headbands.

The 3 that weren't (in case you fancy standing out a bit) were a female Adam Ant - military jacket, plaits with ribbons, white facepaint across nose, black trousers tucked into boots; a very foxy Olivia Newton-John from Grease (she was too young to know that Grease was 70s) curly blonde wig; black leather jacket; black leggings and an Addicted to Love girl - black dress, lots of make up and hair slicked back.

Funny you saying about the orange lippy - the picture (of me) I was thinking of was at a partywhere I had big hair, an orange and black outfit, and a lot of orange-ish makeup. I looked bloomin awful!!!!
