Are they (formal kind) meant to be long? Long as in slightly bunched up?
What kind of shoe to go with?

no. I would wear ballet pumps, thinking Audrey here.

Bellebelle · 01/09/2010 20:39

They're meant to stop at your ankle I think. Agree flats with full length but heels look good with slightly cropped versions IMO.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 01/09/2010 20:40

I've seen them both bunched up, cropped above the ankle and 'normal length I'm sure.

The longer ones often have short boots with them, but I suppose ballet pumps are fine while the weather's still not cold. Wearing my shorter ones like that anyway.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 01/09/2010 20:41

Maybe I'm not thinking of cigarette pants - the ones with slight pleats at the top, tapering to narrow ankles?

HuckingFell · 01/09/2010 20:48

those are peg trousers i think.

moondog · 01/09/2010 21:16

Wrong are you not thinking capris/clam diggers?
I am talking long formal trousers.

These I think, but leg is really narrow.

Peg trousers taper from a baggier top; cigarettes are pretty narrow all the way down.

Cigarettes good for the Audrey look, very slightly cropped. Also for work they are nice full length with a small heel - but this may not be a look that's actually 'in' or anything, just one that I think is quite smart and businesslike without being stuffy.

Pegs better with heels and not as flattering as cigarettes unless you are v tall and small of hip and thigh imho.

1234ThumbWar · 01/09/2010 21:30

I thought that the 7/8th's length was the thing with ballet pumps or loafers.

moondog · 01/09/2010 21:57

Ok, they are pegs then, roomy at top but v narrow.
I am pretty tall and slim.
What 7/8 thing is that?

OP posts:
BelligerentGhoul · 02/09/2010 17:31

Yes - 7/8s and ballet pumps.

Moondog - they are cropped but only a teeny weeny bit, so reveal a glimpse of ankle bone rather than a whole chunk of milk white calf (in my case anyway)!

WhatsWrongWithYou · 02/09/2010 17:38

Ah yes mine must be 7/8s. < wise nod >
