Find me a bag?

Gah. I have no idea- I always buy vintage bags and am happier with smaller shoulder bags, but have just realised that I need to buy a bag which can accommodate an A4 folder. I don't know where to look.

I have a tiny budget of £40 max.

I like this but it's too expensive and maybe too small; I love this but again, it's too expensive.

Can anyone help? I would love leather, and would like a tan, beige, grey or black colour- something neutral.

Hm. Will be back after kids' bedtime to try and help, though it's hard to outdo your super finding skills

littledawley · 01/09/2010 19:10

£5 over budget and maybe too small?
and again
- ebay?
- love this one

There are quite a few on ebay if you don't mind 'vintage'!! I just searched 'leather studded bag'.

FGM · 01/09/2010 19:12

tight budget for leather- could you stretch to this?
otherwise your best bet might be to trail through somewhere like TK max

littledawley · 01/09/2010 19:12

Sorry, just read again and you need to fit a folder in - the last two might do. Accessorize have loads of canvas shopper types so you may be able to get a leather shoulder bag and a shopper that would fit the folder.

That vintage tan one of Littledawley's is great

tethersend · 01/09/2010 20:32

Yay! Replies! Smile

Norkily, thanks for reply- I am shit with bags. I have some sort of blind spot. I also can't afford anything I want.

Oooh, I quite like that vintage one, littledawley... the others are great but are indeed too small.

TKMaxx is a good idea FGM- not keen on the one you linked to though, sorry.

Gah to missing it :(

Annoying bane of my internet life youngest refuses to sleep so no chance to hunt for you yet.

TK Maxx def a good idea though.

NorkilyChallenged · 01/09/2010 21:15

Any good? Hard to get sense of scale/size

[http://www.tkmaxx.com/view-all/handbag/invt/11058594/ This will fit A4]]

As will this

Or this

Too dull?
No real leather though

ebojones · 01/09/2010 21:17

Try the Lisa stickley website - she does oil cloth bags and they are fab. Some are expensive but I think there are some in your price range.

NorkilyChallenged · 01/09/2010 21:21

Bit too formal?

This is quite nice

I really like this

NorkilyChallenged · 01/09/2010 22:22

When you get back and look at the links, let me know what you think - I can branch out beyond TK Maxx once I have a better idea of what's acceptable :)

Then could you go over to my thread and tell me whether I can wear green shoes with blue dress? [self-absorbed] Thank you Grin

tethersend · 02/09/2010 13:49

Ah Norkily... I'm afraid I don't like any of those. I'm hopeless. I think they all look a bit too 'sterile' IYSWIM- I like the vintage look. Sorry. You still occupy a special place in my heart, though Wink

No fair enough. Very tricky in budget though, maybe just looking out on ebay is the answer? Hope you find something.

Adair · 03/09/2010 10:54

oh gawd, Tethersend, sometimes I worry that you ARE me. Am doing this exact same search. Got to have zip, got to accomodate A4... got to 'look' classy/expensive (ie not something the kids would have) but not cost it!!

Will keep you posted. Think I will need to shop in person, as i think you need to feel and look tbh. Had a great bag from ASOS, don't know why I got rid...

I like this, not that it fits any requirements Blush

Adair · 03/09/2010 11:01

Oh, and I like vintage too - hate the idea of having same bag as everyone else. Am currently checking out etsy, as someone recommended on another thread... but really, I think it'll just be keeping an eye out in charity shops etc.

Maryqueenofchocs · 03/09/2010 12:13

here

or

here

tethersend · 04/09/2010 19:08

Thanks for help mary... not keen on those I'm afraid; I think it's the strap length which is too short. Although I don't want a cross body bag either

Tough isn't it, Adair?

I keep going back to this one... would it be big enough? there's no dimensions, am going on the word 'portfolio'.

And it's still too farking expensive.

Any other suggestions gratefully received...
