Black dots on legs after shaving......nice.

Does anyone have this problem?

I can shave my legs with the best razors and they feel silky smooth but i'm still left with all these black dots which I assume are just my hair folicles. They're really noticable. Absolutely hate them. Can't wait til winter so I don't have to worry about getting my legs out.

Used to use mac body foundation and it worked but they're getting worse so it doesn't really work.:(

Any suggestions?

I recognise this problem - on me it was tiny hairs which hadn't yet broken through the skin, and were just curled up wiating to emerge. Grr. Try exfoliating before shaving, with scrub or loofah. Does that do the trick?

bananapeanutbutter · 01/09/2010 15:52

You need to use a product with AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) on your legs to exfoliate them. Fake tan with AHAs is even better.

Thank you!! I seriously wasn't expecting much in the way of help. I always thought that exfoliators were just simply removing dead skin cells though.

How does this AHA work? I don't usually use fake tan though cos it brings them out even more. What other products can this stuff be found in? Thanks again.

If I wax or epilate I get them too.

I can actually squeeze them out and a little hair type thing emerges.
Never sorted it and had to revert to shaving.

So, will lurkSmile

I get it too- I epilate, and eventhough it's supposed to grab hair the size of a grain of sand- it doesn't.

cruelladepoppins · 01/09/2010 19:41

I found the tiny bit of skin that's in their way came off dead easily e.g. by running my fingernail over the top. THat made me think the skin is ready to go and that's why exfoliation is good - it just takes that dead blob of skin off so the hair can sproing out and (hopefully) fall victim to the razor.

interesting....I get this too, in a very bad way. So I can sympathise. Must be more dilligent about exfoliation....

I get this with epilating too.

I usually go over my legs with tweezers on a sunny day and get them out, as has been said, they are usually v. short hairs "stuck" under the skin.

My hairs are getting so fine from epilating that they get stuck a lot so I'm spending lots of time with the tweezers atm. Hmm

bananapeanutbutter · 01/09/2010 20:38

L'oreal sublime bronze is one but there is another better one ... will have to get back to you.

If you don't want a fake tan though, go for a moisturiser with AHA.

Have daily baths, not showers, and scrub your legs with a friction mit.

Meglet · 01/09/2010 20:52

morag I can squeeze them out too. I'd been meaning to ask if anyone else had the same problem.

I've temporarily gone back to shaving to get the ingrowing hairs sorted out and so my legs look dreadful even when they've been shaved, little black dots everywhere.

It was ok when I used to sunbathe all the time, my darker skin camouflaged the hair. Now I am white and fuzzy again.

Bonsoir · 01/09/2010 20:54

If your leg hair is black, you could have it lasered Envy

Meglet · 01/09/2010 21:17

bonsoir that is on my list of things to do when I am rich (whenever that might be Grin).

moragbellingham · 01/09/2010 21:19

hmmm, over £1000 - I don't think so.

iwilldothis · 02/09/2010 10:16

Shock daily baths??? who has time for that?
I don't...and I'm not even working at the moment!

miche8 · 02/09/2010 18:02

if i shave in the bath i dont get them but if i shave in the shower i do. Confused
