T bar shoes for Winter?

Have seen some gorgeous T Bar shoes for DS, but am worried they won't be suitable for winter and his feet will get cold or wet. He's only ever had them before in spring or summer, so not sure whether to buy them or not.

I bought some for DD1 as her first shoes.

If it was obviously wet outside/going to rain she wore wellies.

Having said that I do get little boots now, to cover every eventuality. This is prob better than guessing the weather.

The thing is they are for school and will be going back in shorts so boots not really an option either.
