What colour of bag with purple shoes?

Have purchased purple mary-jane style shoes about the same colour as the header on "advanced search"/mumsnet talk bit at the side.

I don't want matchy matchy. Wearing shoes with navy, so thats my thought. But navy bags along with shoes always look a tinsy bit granny like, no?

Ello Fimbo!!
hmmm. Agree about the navy matchy thing, and shhh don't tell my mum she's in her seventies and does just that (as you say...) but I'm not that sure I'd want a purple bag either Hmm I think I'd go for something nondescript pewter/silverish? But as you know I'm no fashion guru. Being me I am addicted like scarves, so I'd be tempted to go for something with purpley blues in and perhaps link in the silvery colours that way?

purplepeony · 31/08/2010 18:45

tricky- I'd have gone for navy shoes and a whacky shocking pink or silver bag.

maybe black patent?

RonansMummy · 31/08/2010 18:46

silver!

Fimbo · 31/08/2010 18:51

Hello Giggle!
I have a scarf too, which is navy with cream polka dots. The whole outfit is navy (but stylish Wink!), the purple shoes are to lift it all, then a cream mac on top.

Maybe silver would work.

Thanks

Pewter.

Can you post a link to the shoes, they sound ace.

traceybath · 31/08/2010 19:06

Pewter definitely.

Loving your description of the colour Grin

Whats the budget?? is it for day or evening....

How about this, very dark purple...

clutch

will compliment but not be matchy matchy..??

Fimbo · 01/09/2010 13:48

Mary I think that bag is almost the exact colour!

It is for a 50th anniversary day time "do". I need something biggish to hold all the usual child paraphenlia crap.

The shoes are from Marks & Spencer believe it or not, but are not on their website for some reason. Similar can be found in Next, will try and see if I can find a link.

They are not unsimiliar to \link{http://www.next.co.uk/shopping/women/shoesandboots/36/15?extra=sch&n=women&pid=736-331&exclude=00E00|00ED00&returnurl=%2fshop%2fattheel-heel-gattgender-women-cat-shoes-cat-boots-0%3fx%3d1%26nxti%3d0%26nxtv%3d0%23736-331&bct=%26quot%3bShop%20By%20Product%26quot%3b%26nbsp%3b%26gt%3b%26nbsp%3bHeel%26nbsp%3b%26gt%3b%26nbsp%3bWomen%26nbsp%3b%26gt%3b%26nbsp%3bShoes%26nbsp%3b%26gt%3b%26nbsp%3bBoots\these} which quite frankly are hideous in brown. The purple are delightful with a sort of slight black line round the edges.
