help finding a slim-line parka, please!

Hi,

Am looking for a new parka for the winter but struggling to find something suitable - my old one is competely past it and now only suitable for walking the dog (in the dark!)!

Looking for one with a hood (with faux fur trim) and a slim-line fit, covering the bum. Ideally would prefer waterproof but it is mainly the slimmer shape I am looking for. Current one finishes mid-thigh and slighty a-shaped, very flattering.

Has anyone seen anything out there that may be what I am looking for?

All help gratefully received! TIA

I have just bought this - bargain and I really really like it. It has adjustable waist tabs so you can kind of fit it to you.

I'm 5'3'' and it's mid thigh

It's comfy, warm and waterproof - doesn't have the furry hood though, sorry!

theres a HH one one there that might fit your criteria thouggh?

josefa · 31/08/2010 16:42

This one from Wrap - I have it and it has faux fur, can be adjusted to make it fitted, is low thigh, waxed?

josefa · 31/08/2010 16:42

Mind you the hood is quite, er, voluminous let's say.

This is the Warehouse effort for the year. It will not be as waterproof as the other suggestions though.

OOh, thank you ladies!!

The wrap one is too expensive unfortunately (on mat leave just now) and I am not overly keen on the waist pull thing - I have a long body and they always are half way up my rib cage!

Loving the Helly Hansen one - exactly what I am looking for! The Regatta one is the right shape too, but I really want the furry collar, 'cos I love those!!

Must see if I can find somewhere I can try the HH one on before buying - I have quite long arms and often jacket arms finish well above my wrists for some reason. Also not sure if I am a 12 or 14 and would prefer to know before buying.

Don't suppose anyone knows whether there is a shop in Manchesters Trafford centre that stocks HH? There appears to be a HH store in Manc city centre, but am visiting Trafford centre in a few days, so that would be ideal!

Thanks again for the suggestions everyone - very much appreciated!!

I saw 2 yesterday ( i am looking too) both almost identical. one in oasis £75 ish..one in h and m £35.. both long and tie(inside) at waist...fluffy collar...in fact I think they are from the same sweat shop they were that similar...H and M one a bargain but too long for me (midget alert) also came up big. I tried on xs and it was still a bit big.

Fusty did you buy from that website? Was it OK with good delivery service?

What is the sizing like on the coat?

Brilliant website and those coats are bargainous!

Bearcat · 01/09/2010 20:55

Just bought one from John Lewis. £89. In black or violet (looks grey to me) .

I ordered the one fusty linked to.
It comes up big imo.
I looked like a security guard in it.

Just in case anyone is still interested:

I bought the Helly Hansen parka. Sz Large was for a 40" chest, which I am, I am size 12 btw. It drowned me. Totally. Sent it back and got the Medium. Fits perfectly, that is for a 37" chest. Ladies coat, so should have fitted the first one, if I went by my measurements.

Anyhow, it's really nice and waterproof, will be great for walking the dog and going to the beach, and it is slimming!

Thanks to all who suggested Smile
