Just thrown away my second pair of Topshop Baxters in two months

They both split across the knee, not just a little hole but rrrrrrrrrip all the way across, within two months of purchase. I wore them a lot but not every day, my New Look skinnies (bought months ago at half the price) are still going strong!

Has anyone else had this problem? or maybe I've just got giant knees?

Mine went at the knee too and kind of baggy at the top. Have gone right off Topshop jeans.

CatIsSleepy · 27/08/2010 20:58

hmm
i bought some the other day, wore them once, decided I didn't like them and started a thread wondering whether I could take them back

the consensus was, no you can't you skanky git, but tbh I'm still considering it!

ThePlanningCommittee · 27/08/2010 21:02

Ohhh, don't tell me Topshop jeans have been poor quality recently!

Was considering treating myself to a new pair of Baxters (current pair 18 months old and going a bit baggy on the arse & knees), but will think again if recent batches have been falling to pieces.

MegBusset, did you take either pair of jeans back to Topshop? I would have hoped they'd refund you or replace them if they've fallen to bits so soon after you've bought them.

nancy75 · 27/08/2010 21:05

why didn't you return them? jeans should last more than 2 months

zanz1bar · 27/08/2010 21:06

I get through the knees on my jeans and think it is all to do with your leg length and the cut of jeans.
If you have a long thigh bone the knee on most bootcut jeans is too short so every time you bend the knee or crouch down you will be putting stress on the fabric in the wrong place for the cut of fabric.
If I get proper jeans designed for long legs not just a few inches added at the hem, they don't rip.
Just can't afford them often so get cheap jeans and end up getting through3/4 pairs in a year instead.

Did wonder if I had bony pointy knees but now a well padded sixe14 so can't blame bony knees.

I had the Jamie ones for about 3 months hardly wore them they had 3 rips on them 2 near the belt loop and one on the seam...took them back as i was really annoyed that this had happened as i'd had others from there and they'ed been fine. They gave me a new pair, glad i took them now as they shouldnt just fall apart :)

Ok, so it's undeniably shit that Sir Philip Green has got your money (like he needs it anyway!!) and the jeans he sold you are wanky, broken and binned. Try to look at this as a good thing though,a blessing in disguise. It's all about the houlihan anyway this season. So onwards and upwards I say. Credit cards out!

MegBusset · 27/08/2010 21:29

I didn't have the receipt for either pair so couldn't take them back. Dunno about long thigh bones (I'm 5ft 3in so don't really have a long anything) but I do spend a lot of time kneeling down to toddler height!

What's a houlihan?

I am scared of houlihans.

HalfTermHero · 28/08/2010 00:08

Behold the houlihan.

It is where it's at, so to speak Grin

moragbellingham · 28/08/2010 08:53

Did you pay cash or credit/debit card?
I would take your statement if you paid by card and return them as they should last alot longer than that.

xkaylax · 28/08/2010 09:22

I couldnt find my reciept either but they were fine with it. Worth a try anyway :)
