Fashionistas - what type of socks do you wear?

I'm really trying to put more effort into my appearance, and things are definitely improving but the shame when I go to someone's house and have to take my shoes off. Out comes something from my selection of Gap socks - spotty, stripey, stars, golfing diamonds. They look anything but cool.

I can't imagine that the trendy folk out there have this issue. What do you wear (with jeans/trousers obv)?

All my socks are black cotton, some short ones and some (under) knee ones for wearing under trousers in winter.

I am not a fashionista.

I am not fashionable but I got to hate my horrible collection of socks and threw them all out apart from 5 pairs of cashmere ones - I just wash them more often

the boden pack of 7 for £15 (?) look nice too

You see - this is why one shouldn't have to remove shoes in people's houses

Just plain black ones normally.

I always wear black socks. Not cashmere mind, just cotton.

I haven't left house all day - I look a state.

I HAVE left the house AND had visitors and am still a state. My hair looks like a dome

I don't look a state although I'm not wearing socks.

Mens black socks - because they come up higher on your leg. Obviously only any good if your fet are size 6 or more.

But you should wear your stripey ones, they're more fun.

Whereas I look amazing save for my bright blue socks with yellow and purple diamonds all over them.

I love patterned socks (so long as I'm wearing jeans that noone can see them!)

I think there's nothing nicer than having people kicking their shoes off at your house and you get a wee insight into their personality.

Black= Functional and a bit boring in my book. Unless they've come straight from work.

Oh I love bright patterned socks! At the minute I have grey ones on, which have pink flowers and red & white mushrooms all over!

For work though, I just wear black ones with the days of the week on from Next. They're really good quality.

I love my Gap socks!! And I'm not a fashionista - wanna be, maybe!!

I have mens M & S black socks, with coloured heels.(as I have big feet)
I would prefer plain black, but dh wears plain black, and I am not spending my life sorting out his socks and mine.
But only wear socks with boots.

try sock dreams the cronert ones are particularly lovely.

I wear:
dark grey or green recycled cotton
Purple knit
Grey and black cable
Teal cronert otk and the MP unlike stripe are both really soft cotton.

I have some blue lace ones, some grey lace ones and some grey lacy angora ones. I wish I looked like those women in magazines who wear big socks and a slip of a silk nightie, possibly with a cable knit cardigan. However, mostly I tend to just look like a silly lady in pretty socks.
