Formal evening wear advice for a Wedding

DH & I have been invited to a wedding in a couple of months and they have made a request that guests wear formal evening wear/black tie.

DH will be wearing his tux (which I'm looking forward to seeing) but I'm stuck!

I have never had to wear anything like this before and don't know where to start, so I'm after your help!

It is DH's mate who is getting married, and I don't really know any of the female guests so I cant check to see what everyone else is wearing. Therefore, I want something in line with the dress code, but not too cinderella-ish, just in case everyone else is quite low key!

Also, budget isn't too hot, say £50. Ideally I'd like to not have to buy shoes etc as well, so it would have to go with either black sandals or orangy/red (see the colour of the angry face smiley) round, closed toe heels or emerald green satin, round closed toe heels!

I'm small up top, no hips, and have a large bum & thighs (sound lovely don't I?!!) so would prefer nothing too short!

Thnaks for your help!

Monsoon are good for evening dresses - they do separate skirts & tops too if you're not a standard shape. Only risk really is that you might find yourself wearing the same as someone else as they are pretty popular. Maybe go to Monsoon & find out what size you are, then shop on Ebay for an older season piece. Coast also do separate tops & bottoms.

These people are a bit more daring www.thedarkangel.co.uk/onlinestore.php but mix it with a different top or bottom to be less Goth

Sorry for not coming back sooner, and thanks for all your replies & suggestions.

I love that phase eight dress Mae, but DH isnt too keen on the embelishment Angry

I reckon I was thinking too hard about it, and could only picture HUGE flouncy dresses, when I really just need to keep it fairly simple.

Cheeers x
