Found some lovely things in there in the sale, yet when they get passing mention here it's always pretty negative. What's the view?

i was in a dept. sotre today and they had WS. Looking through it, I didn't see anything very nice, but as I was just leaving that section, there were 2 models wearing gorgeous things, it was the way they put things together that was so nice, I'd never have thought of mixing the pieces they had together. I even tried on one of the items (not on their website, so can't link) and think I may very well go back and buy it.

dexter73 · 26/08/2010 16:11

Most of their tops make me look pregnant and also not very impressed with the quality of their stuff so it's a no from me!

carefulwiththataxe · 26/08/2010 17:42

I quite like them - thought they had some nice summer stuff but agree it's a bit overpriced for the quality. I usually wait for the sales.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 26/08/2010 17:44

No, they look like overpriced sacks, especially the top. They like vests with lace trimms, the skirts are not too bad though.

Amanderrr · 26/08/2010 18:04

White stuff isn't terribly exciting but it's practical when your day consists of changing nappies/helping with Play Doh masterpieces/dropping child at nursery.

There was a thread on here a while ago about the Debenhams range called Mantaray being very similar in style to White Stuff but less expensive.

£40.00 at White Stuff but just £27.00 at Mantaray. Plus some of the profits from the Mantaray range are donated to the Marine Conservation Society.

Katisha · 26/08/2010 18:06

All their tops are effing empire line. Tedious if it deosn't suit you.

I have got the havana harbour denim skirt and like it v much (And need to for what it cost...)

toomuchtimeonline · 26/08/2010 18:07

I quite like White stuff {whispers}

It's overpriced full price but they always do a real sale where nearly everything is reduced! So I often try everything on when it comes out then wait for the sale.. I think it washes really well too..

I know this is in style though and I'm prob not tha stylish.. Blush

MrsJohnDeere · 26/08/2010 18:15

Tops are all too plunging of neckline for me.

Egg · 26/08/2010 18:18

I just bought a few things in there today. I really like them..

Maryqueenofchocs · 26/08/2010 18:39

one of their assistants once told my 39yr old husband whilst trying on shorts which were too big for him 'well young people wear them low on the hips these days'. I can assure you he was not trying to wear them like simon cowell, he was just asking for a 32" instead of a 34"....

He walked out immediately, telling the assistant he had done a great job of alienating him and making him feel ancient, he's never been back in.

I can never find anything in there...

FGM · 26/08/2010 18:52

No from me; it's baggy, saggy, unimaginative, poor quality faux beach chic IMO. So bored of seeing every other mum in some faded-look print skirt and shapeless top. Sorry.

frenchygirl · 26/08/2010 19:14

Where all these mums that everyone sees dressed in ws or boden. I live in an ordinary suburb place and the only things I see Mums wearing are fleeces, denims, tops, converse (trendy ones), asda stuff etc. I aspire to ws.

bellavita · 26/08/2010 19:18

I like White Stuff and have a couple of their summer dresses. Have a few winter pieces too.

Never had a problem with their stuff and it washes lovely.

lucykate · 26/08/2010 20:10

well, i quite like white stuff, but their sizing is odd, everything is massive, the trick is to go down a size.

MrsC2010 · 26/08/2010 20:12

Used to be a big yes from me, moving towards no. Big fan of the odd bit though.

cornsillky · 26/08/2010 20:12

Yes but the sizing is crazy

BikeRunSki · 26/08/2010 20:14

I quite like WS. Got a few things last summer, which I loved, inlcuding a woolen dress which I am waiting for the weather to change cold enough to wear! Sizing is a bit wild though!

suzikettles · 26/08/2010 20:17

They are all cut for a certain build and it's not me.

I get the catalogue and often like the things in it (a gorgeous velvet coat for autumn that I've got an eye on) but unless it's a skirt it's unlikely to fit.

sharbie · 26/08/2010 20:23

what dexter said - the sizes are way too big and weird.prob good if you're pregnant tho.

carefulwiththataxe · 26/08/2010 20:29

Worth having a look on ebay - often find a lot of ws skirts on there.

NoseyNooNoo · 27/08/2010 01:18

I find it to be one of the only places that I can find clothes that are not too old/young/formal and they wash well. I also find the staff to be extremely helpful, friendly, chatty. The silly thing is that I walked past the shop for a decade before realising that 'White Stuff' did not mean snow - I thought it was snowboardy type stuff Blush

QueuePosition3 · 27/08/2010 04:00

God no. I find sizing small. Looked ata Cardigan. Was about 10 stone 4. Had to try a size 16. Crazy.

Generally hate shop. Is last resort. Is home of unimaginative dresser. Bkrjn a line skirts emprie line tops stupid ad campaigns.

teta · 27/08/2010 04:26

I like the t-shirts and some of the tunics, but i always buy in the sale.I have broad shoulders and ok bust - so the low cut fronts flatter me.I also think some of the prints are really pretty.I would never wear a patterned skirt though.I live in the country where Joules/Seasalt is the in thing,so i never see anyone else wearing it.If the clothes suit you ,it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks-do your own thingSmile

miche8 · 27/08/2010 08:37

i placed my first order last week a basic longsleeve tee and a tunic. Found the sleeves really long and tight, very thin fabric, ideal for layering. The tunic felt small across the back and was thin material again, and it needed to be handwashed. Both were returned, think its a bit over priced, if the tee goes in the sale i will buy in a bigger size.
