I have just seen someone wearing some oxblood red mary jane brogues, where are they from?

They are absolutely gorgeous, but I'm guessing not your average high street purchase. Damn it. I sort of thought that they might be doc martens because the sole was that paleish coloured rubber they use, and quite chunky, but nowhere to be seen on there.

Any ideas?

i had an exact pair of these Doc Martens a few years ago. I chucked them as they were sooo scuffed but when i asked in the Doc Marten shop in Camden for another pair they said they werent making them anymore Sad

i know what you mean - they are stunning and you have resurrected my inner feelings of mourning over chucking them! Sad

MinkyBorage · 25/08/2010 15:53

Oh no, they could be old! Damn, I hadn't thought of that. Did yours have little brogue holes along the seams?

I also mourn the loss of some square toed oxblood red doc marten shoes, but that was about 20 years ago and they weren't as nice as the ones I've just seen.

like these? :

Camper and Oxygen often have Mary Jane styles with that rubber crepe sole too, so might be worth a look.

MinkyBorage · 25/08/2010 16:07

The same sort of colour as those, but with broguey type little holes along the seams. I've been through the camper web site, but not oxygen, off to look now. thank you.

I'm wondering if they might be some sort of japanese or french type label. bet I never find them

I have these which are more oxbloody than they look, and much nicer on than in the picture.

Ronaldinhio · 25/08/2010 17:08

habbibu I don't think they could look any worse than in the picture!!

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 25/08/2010 17:16

I have some that sound similar. I got them from Clarks last year.

these

these

similar, similar, but not the ones. They are like proper brogues with pinked edges and little holes around the seams, kind of doc marten shape, i.e. not lady and feminibne, but the sole isn't too thick, but it sticks out around the side of the shoe a bit.
Ah well, I'm going to try to find the woman again and stalk her!

Clarks often do that sort of shoe, also Lands End do an oxblood red Mary Jane shoe.

moragbellingham · 26/08/2010 08:56

moragbellingham · 26/08/2010 09:00

chimchar · 26/08/2010 09:15

wrong colour, but are these them?

ebay item no 110577692613

(sorry no link...for some reason pc not playing nicely today!)

JetLi · 26/08/2010 09:18

Would these be they, but in black?

MinkyBorage · 26/08/2010 19:10

Unfortunately not. Thank you for looking for me though, the green doc marten ones on ebay are the most similar chimchar, but they're proper mary janes, and the sole is kind of squashed, and not too chunky iyswim.

Thanky you though.
