I have an 11 year old Billie Joe Armstrong wannabe. He currently has quite long hair but now has asked for it to be like this:

<a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=fuchsiawoman.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/Billie_Joe_Armstrong_1.jpg&imgrefurl=fuchsiawoman.com/blog/read/dapper-dresser-michael-chabon-book-reading-in-oakland-ca/&usg=__cW-nke90Wp97yKRoSSPA2FuMZWc=&h=314&w=260&sz=23&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=g0BP7Ad24K8qdM:&tbnh=157&tbnw=115&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbillie%2Bjoe%2Barmstrong%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1T4SUNC_enGB377GB377%26biw%3D1345%26bih%3D493%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=702&ei=KNJ0TICJKcSOjAfC3YHiBQ&oei=KNJ0TICJKcSOjAfC3YHiBQ&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&tx=58&ty=79" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=fuchsiawoman.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/Billie_Joe_Armstrong_1.jpg&imgrefurl=fuchsiawoman.com/blog/read/dapper-dresser-michael-chabon-book-reading-in-oakland-ca/&usg=__cW-nke90Wp97yKRoSSPA2FuMZWc=&h=314&w=260&sz=23&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=g0BP7Ad24K8qdM:&tbnh=157&tbnw=115&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dbillie%2Bjoe%2Barmstrong%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1T4SUNC_enGB377GB377%26biw%3D1345%26bih%3D493%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=702&ei=KNJ0TICJKcSOjAfC3YHiBQ&oei=KNJ0TICJKcSOjAfC3YHiBQ&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&tx=58&ty=79

He starts secondary school in september so I can't have him going looking scruffy - is this style easy to maintain? if so, what would it take? wax?

That's a scary picture!!!
That style needs wax or some product to keep it in shape- is he the sort of boy to do that?
As long as it's clean, I don't see the problem- better than having his hair flopping in front of his face in a sweepy fringe.
And he won't have the scary face will he?
(GOES OFF WONDERING WHO BILLIE JOE IS)

No chance, that is a 6th form hairstyle, he's a little boy for goodness sake.

IHeartKingThistle · 26/08/2010 10:20

I wouldn't say that's an unusal style in secondary school these days (I've seen much worse!).

It will make a bit of a statement right at the beginning of Year 7 though.

Looked at the picture and thought, yum!

I love Billie Joe. Not sure how easy that style would be to do though.

cornsillky · 26/08/2010 10:59

It's short enough so yes - if he's willing to put the work in!

VoldemortsNipple · 26/08/2010 11:54

Ds would love Billy joe hair too. He has just started to grow it. I think with a style like that you could wear it more funky at the weekends if it posed a problem at school.

You would need to check the school regulations on hair as that wouldn't be allowed at my dd's school.
