Please help me. I have an interview for clothes shop - what to wear?

The shop is Gap.

I have interview for Friday.

Usually I wear smart dress/jacket combinations for interview but I said that today to my friend and she said that may not be a good idea... Confused

So please please help me decide what to wear!
(maybe skinny trousers, white shirt?)

I really want the job! :)

What type of job are you being interviewed for?

If it's a sales associate smart/casual would be fine.

I was a manager for Gap many moons ago - I wore jeans and a shirt for my assessment day.

domesticgoddess yes it is sales associate. Ok, smart casual....erm.....you see that to me is harder to get right then corporate suit!! :)

I know what you mean!

Skinny trousers and a white shirt would be fine. Skinny jeans and a shirt equally fine. Pay attention to the small details clean shoes, appropriate level of make up etc, be confident, be enthusiastic about customer service, and don't be afraid to interact with people - you'll be fine!

Have they told you what format the interview will be?

I handed my CV in a few months ago and thought nothing would come of it, so was delighted to hear from them! No, the woman said to come in for an interview.

I don't know what format they use now, but when I was there they used to do part of the interview on the shop floor to see how the candidate would interact with customers. If they do that make sure you talk to customers (don't be shy) and if you're asked to put together an outfit within a budget make sure you include accessories. Good luck!

Well I wore a Zara dress with tiny rose buds all over it, leggings, shoeboots and vintage tux jacket.

And I got the job! :) :) :) :)

i've always worn suits and i've always got the job.

I think if its a clothes shop you could wear what you would wear at work, but i'd wear a suit for an interview regardless of what the job is. An interview is a business meeting.

The most important thing to wear is a smile!
