Dull, yes - but need shoes for DD starting nursery

I need to buy some new shoes for my 21 mth old DD who will be starting full time nursery in Sept. Up until now she has been wearing Doodles most of the time, but she'll need something suitable for outdoor play and more hardwearing that the Doodles. Not sure about trainers, as she had some Clark sones that made her feet very hot.

Any ideas? She is a size 5.

Can only really tell you what we do.

When ds was little - not walking we didn't bother. They can't wear shoes inside so there was no point.

Once he started walking we just got shoes from clarkes. Because his feet grew quickly it didn't matter if they got mucky. This was only outdoor muck though- not paint etc as he didn't wear them indoors.

We get clarkes shoes but from Charles clinkards as customer service is better IMO.

DS (23 months) also wears Clark's for nursery (and for most of the time really). We get them from the outlet shops, where they are much cheaper! - Less choice of style/size, but we have always found something that fits DS feet, and fits our needs eg: boots in winter, sandals in summer.

clarks with velcro so she can get them on and off herself.

My DD has these in black patent and shiny red patent.
Keep her feet dry when she's outside and they're heavily padded on the inside.
Got them for £12 each last March from Amazon, also available in John Lewis for sizing and trying on.

yes clarks with velcro
buy a sensible colour you can polish with proper polish though - if you get pink you have to use 'shumagic' which is rubbish

Thanks people. Morag, those are lovely!

MrsB - I made a pact when she was born that she would never wear pink shoes, especially not LelliKelly's Wink

[hollow laugh]

when they are they only buggers that fit her freakishly shaped feet you may rescind that

dd has had two pink pairs already and is only three [sigh]
