Epilating - am I doing it wrong?

Just bought a Veet epilator on strength of good Amazon reviews. Had a go on my legs and it's not the pain that's the problem... it's so painfully SLOW!! It took me half an hour to do one lower leg. Gah. Once I'd figured out that I had to suspend it over my leg and allow it to grip the hairs while hovering (rather than pressing down) it got a bit more efficient but I was still going over every half-inch sixty thousand times... zzzz. Is my epilator crap? Am I doing it wrong? Or is that just how it is?

You definately have to hover, and go against the hairs, it shouldn't take 30 mins to do one lower leg, 15 max I would have thought. I can do mine in about 5 but have been doing it since I was 11 and there aren't many hairs left, they give up after a while!

If you exfoliate before hand it helps, and your legs need to be completely dry.

thanks moomaa - will try exfoliating. Do you think there is much to choose between epilators?
