Yet again another coat thread.

PLease don't hate me for starting another coast thread.

I am looking for something, well it is hard to describe.
Think 20's or 40's style. Agatha Christie, Dior New Look, to wear with a nice hat and gloves. Your grandmother going to town look.
Does that make sense? Given A/W looks this year I might stand a chance.
I just bought a fab navy blue winter wool felt hat which has brown ribbon and baubles on it.

I have been looking at the other coat threads and online but everything is military (which I love but cant do double breasted or double button).

Thanks heaps!!!

Can you link to the style you're thinking of?

This sort of thing? Or this? Or this?

HowsTheSerenity · 23/08/2010 12:03

That is the thing. I cant find a link to anything. Maybe I am looking too early? I thought maybe someone had come acros something in their travels.

Tethers - just looked at the links. You are right on the ball! You are wonderful. Many thanks.

If I were you I would buy vintage- it will be warm, superb quality and affordable. Have just bought a vintage faux leopard coat and it's amazing. I don't care if it's August Grin

Autumndew · 23/08/2010 13:45

What is with the three quarter length sleeves on Winter coats this year ?Freezing, soaking arms is not my idea of fun (as nice as they look)

tethersend · 23/08/2010 14:10

The secret is long gloves Wink

switchtvoffdosomelessboring · 23/08/2010 15:33

Where do you buy vintage tethersned? Anywhere online?

tethersend · 23/08/2010 16:08

I live in London so quite a few vintage shops- otherwise ebay still has some great pieces (in amongst the shit), particularly the US site. Rokit now have a website and I have got my best ever bargains from charity shops Smile

tethersend · 23/08/2010 16:13

Oooh, just saw this which is simple but a bargain and would look great with a brooch.

HowsTheSerenity · 23/08/2010 22:37

I can never find anything to foit me in charity shops. It seems that only skinny people donate clothes Grin

what about this

Will I look like a ugly 70's sofa?

OP posts:

or this

Bracelet sleeves and cashmere wristwarmers = v cute and still warm enough (unless in Prague in -12, like I was last year!).

Love that third one in your first post, Tethers.

HowsTheSerenity · 24/08/2010 11:14

this

or this

So I think all those listed are my final choices.
Can someone pick one for me please.

tethersend · 24/08/2010 17:44

Out of those, I like the IO one the best; had one eye on it anyway.

Disclaimer- I do actually own and love a 70s sofa Grin

traceybath · 24/08/2010 17:51

I like the IO one but it says its 100% polyester - that can't be right surely? Not considering its original price.

HowsTheSerenity · 24/08/2010 18:00

the IO one you linked to is only available in a size 8 and the only thing that fits in a size 8 is my foot.

I do like the reversible patterned one.

OP posts:
tethersend · 24/08/2010 18:07

That's the one I meant- the reversible one.

HowsTheSerenity · 24/08/2010 18:46

Thank you tethers. I really do not need a coat. I am moving back to Australia in December but I WANT one.
I am never going to wear it once I get back to Brisbane but still.....
