White Stuff- very expensive?

Had a look in my local shop -saw quite a few Ts and tops etc that were nice, but the price! They make Boden look cheap. No chunky cardi was under £47.50, and all the tops and Ts are £25+.

I don't mind paying for nice clothes, but £27.50 for a t shirt made from polyester and viscose seems to be taking the p.........

they seem to think that if the display clothes in nice shops with wood flooring and rugs, they can charge the earth for very ordinary items- or am I just getting cynical in my old age?

i placed my first order last week, got a grey tunic and a white tee - thought it was very expensive and when it arrived i'm not sure its worth the money, the tunic also is handwash not something i want to be doing in winter. what i got is quite nice but i'm not sure if i love them enough to keep, would need to exchange for the next size anyway - sizing comes up small. Also notice the material is very thin, not sure how the tee would wash up.

Have never been into a store.

I find White Stuff a bit hit and miss. I've bought a few of their skirts and dresses this year and worn them to death, so I've had my moneys worth out of them. I agree their t-shitrs are expensive and don't wash well. You can get better quality from Sainsburys for a fraction of the cost.

Their sizing is all over the place - I order 2 sizes of everything to make sure I have something that fits.

I cringe at some of the names they give their clothes too. Grin

I only buy stuff from there in the sales. And not t-shirts - they do seem to be over-priced for what they are.

However, I bought some jeans in the recent sale and I love them so much I might consider paying full price to get jeans from them in the future. They fit me perfectly.

I have three skirts that have been wonderful. I find the sizing of skirts to be a bit big and can actually get one of my skirts off without undoing it!

Tops are better sized, but pricey. I only buy in the sales though.

I used to love their skirts and jersey dresses, I have found they have got more and more pricey and seasons a little hit and miss now though. I used to live in Cowes on the IoW and this, fat Face, jack Wills etc etc were the only shops available with ease, but the price hike has put me off a little.

I like their stuff but it's a bit girlie for me - I don't really 'do' pretty - but I have a few pieces and I like them. I only buy in the sale though - as with FF and Gap, the sales are so good it seems madness to ever pay full price for anything.

floweryblue · 23/08/2010 19:58

no different from any other brand imo, they're all hit and miss aren't they? And if a hit, price may not be an issue, if a miss, 10p is too much to pay!

I actually really like White Stuff.I only ever buy the t shirts and kaftans in the sale. The styles seem to suit my shape and i have lived in the stripy/wrap-round flowery t shirts this year. Also i have only ever had to return one item wheras with Boden i had to return the whole lot.But yes the prices are high for t shirts [but similar to boden surely].Purple Peony i am curious to see if you can do one post without mentioning Boden As i am seriously beginning to think that you are in their employ

powderpuff31 · 24/08/2010 08:07

I find them expensive for stuff that isn't machine washable - I'd never get round to doing it!!

Plus their stuff always seems to make me look pregnant, which is frustrating because the patterns are so beautiful!!

cathers · 24/08/2010 08:58

I find them expensive for the quality of garment. Most tops from there which I have bought have frayed and are v thin. The dresses look great on models but seem to have fabric which sags across my middle!

Plus, the last items which I had to return took almost a month to be refunded so tend to avoid them now.

I think bottoms are usually good but definitely worth hanging on for their sales as I think they are overpriced. I always like the look of their tops and then end up regretting it when I buy them - they are poor quality.
