TWO, yes two, pairs of properly fitting jeans for pear shapes

I managed to find two pairs of jeans today - at opposite ends of the pricing spectrum - and with a little help from you fab S&B types.

First up from Wallis of all places a wide leg that I think will do for my Katherine Hepburn wannabe moments - I am somewhat Jodphur-ish of hip and need a bit of flappines to counteract it.

Secondly a miracle in denim. Not cheap and nearly a third of my autumn budget but I decided to go for a fabulous pair of jeans, one pair of good boots and a decent coat. Everything else will be cheapy cheapy.

Neither pair gapes at the back of the waistband, not a hint of camel toe and I am staggered.

I picked up the NYDJ recommendation on here - so thank you a thousand times.

The NYDJs are amazing. I promise you'll love them. They wash and wear so well, and fit fantasticlly. Let us know how you get on

polyhymnia · 22/08/2010 11:23

Another NYDJ fan here - they do just what it says on the tin. Have several pairs in different colours and styles and always feel good in them, and comfortable at same time. So easy to wash too. Enjoy them!

Although I found for years that Wallis is a lot more forgiving than most brands on the pear shape front. Shame they went a bit peculiar a few years ago. I used to rely on them.

BikeRunSki · 23/08/2010 20:50

Love those Wallis ones.

Penethea · 23/08/2010 21:06

Thank you Duchess - I was going to post to ask for recommendations for jeans that flatter pear shapes and lo, here they are! Jeans shopping this weekend so I will check both of those out.

BranchingOut · 23/08/2010 23:15

I have just bought a pair of Gap Curvy jeans and they seem OK. Pockets are a bit wierd, but the fit is good.

hellymelly · 23/08/2010 23:22

I've wondered about those NYDjeans,The thought of buying them made me suddenly feel middle aged though.I am middle aged ,and I've had 2 c-sections and have the tum to prove it,so i am clearly their target market-I just wish I wasn't.But if they are truly flattering then maybe I should buy some.I can never find nice jeans.I end up wearing DH's.

parachute · 24/08/2010 10:28

I have a pair of not your daughters and really like them. I am a 16 but had to buy a 16 which wasn't how they were marketed but they are so comfy and don't slide down. Got my eye on more on ebay but struggle with the sizes so would probably have to get somewhere full price.

without · 24/08/2010 15:57

I'm a size 8-10 and my NYDJ's are a size 0 which I have to say makes me feel great. I am middle-aged with a tummy (no C ections but my second did for my stomach muscles he was so big). They do hold in your tum, and bum and are just so lovely to wear.

I promise you'll not regret buying a pair. I got rid of my other jeans after I bought my first pair as nothing else fitted so well.

Lulumaam · 24/08/2010 15:58

i get mine from simply be, the magi fit ones. they are fantastic and well fitting and £38 or so IIRC. no gaping and come in different leg lengths

hellymelly · 24/08/2010 16:08

OOh without-that is making me even more tempted.I am a size 10,(or a 12 if I've been overdoing the cakes),but I should be an 8 so I am still carrying a bit of post preg podge even though my littlest is now 3.The Howies jeans I wore when I was pregnant fitted under my bump, but that isn't a good look when the bump has gone and there is just a doughy shelf from the caesarian (and the cakes).

without · 24/08/2010 21:19

Hellymelly - I'd try a size 2 for NYDJ, but tyr them first or get a pair from a place you can return them if they aren't right.

hellymelly · 24/08/2010 22:18

Oh thanks, thats helpful.there is a link above to a stockist so i'm off to have a look at the styles.

MooMinCow · 25/08/2010 08:50

I bought some Levi's high waisted 627 straight leg jeans a few weeks ago and they are great! Not quite as flappy as bootcut but not too skinny either. With heels makes my chunky legs look model long and no muffin top or gaping at back!

BelleDameSansMerci · 25/08/2010 08:55

If anyone wants a pair of black Wizard jeans in a size 14 (here which have been worn once (and have obviously been washed) let me know? You can have them for free - I just want someone to wear them! They are great but I was feeling fat on the day I ordered them and they're too big for me. I know that I will never put them on ebay and they will end up going to a charity shop in about a year's time.

I'll check back later and see if anyone wants them - first come, first served.

mamatomany · 25/08/2010 10:51

Are you sure Belle ?
I'd love them I'm slimming down after having the baby, promise to pass them on once i'm out of them.

BelleDameSansMerci · 25/08/2010 16:12

I'm absolutely certain - and I'm so glad someone wants them. I thought I'd killed the thread and felt rather bad about it Blush

If you have the CAT facility, do you want to send me an email with your name/address and I'll get them to you asap? If not, just say and I'll put my email address on here but with words for dot, etc.

mamatomany · 25/08/2010 20:14

Well thanks again, I've sent you a CAT, never done it before so if it's hasn't worked I'll try email.

BelleDameSansMerci · 25/08/2010 20:31

Thanks. It's not come through yet but will respond when it does.
