What makes you think you'll be having 6 treatments, (not meaning to sound arsey), is that what you have estimated or were told?
I had 12 sessions (pale skin - type I or II and dark hair)!

Always try and get a personal recommendation from someone who has been to the clinic for similar treatment.

Obviously I'm biased and not happy as it took over eighteen months to achieve anything like what I was imagining.

liquoriceshakes · 20/08/2010 12:42

6 treatments is what they recommend and that's the package they offer so I just assumed that would be enough? eek! is it painful? I thought it would be like going for a wax which never grows back - Blush I've got tan skin and dark hair

I have to assume that my clinic was not good and am currently complainingSad.

Pain wise - suprisingly a bit more than what I expected.
I would take mild painkillers beforehand.
It's on a level with waxing but you have to accept that it takes longer and so prob feels a bit extended.

Ask for a patch test, some places do and some don't.
If I had had one done (not deemed necessary due to ideal colouring) then I could've seen that it didn't have any effect to start with.

Results now are good, if overly expensive and time consuming!

Aeldredida · 20/08/2010 13:40

Morag, what are your results if you dont mind me asking? Is it finer hair or no hair? I suspect I am similar you. I have dark strong hair (far too much) and pale skin.

Thing1Thing2 · 20/08/2010 13:43

Make sure the clinic have been around a long time and get a recommendation.

I once got very badly burned (upper lip - so not pretty).

liquoriceshakes · 20/08/2010 14:04

oh dear that sounds awful! Hope you're ok now.

I have used sk:n as they accept Tesco Clubcard vouchers. So far have had two sessions (underarms) and am very pleased with the results. I have pale skin and dark hair, and have paid for 6 sessions.

DinahRod · 20/08/2010 14:11

Can I ask, how much do 6 sessions cost and what did you have done?

Are the results permanent?

moragbellingham · 20/08/2010 15:46

Tesco clubcards at sk:n!!! I want my underarms done now (and legs but that's way too much).

6 sessions £350 at HMC.
Top up once a year possibly needed further down the line, or not.

Aeldredida - NO HAIR (not all overBlush), hurrah! I can go swimming at the drop of a hat now, if only I could find a bloody swimsuit.

HerHonesty · 20/08/2010 19:13

i've had this. i had 4 sessions before pregnancy, was beginning to get good results and then got pregnant and went back to the start.

i did kick up a fuss as apparently they should have advised to complete a full course before pregnancy and also they did not advise that you have to wait 6 months after finishing BF before you start again.

So i've now had 4, pregnancy, then 6. bikini line is not 100% but good enough to go swimming in the UK iykwim. on a sunny holiday i would probably choose to top up with a razor - but no more waxing which is bliss. i reckon i will go for a session a year.

on the under arm, jury still out, i am not convinced that i have go nearly as good results as bikini line.

i found it very, very painful, but worth it if like me you found bikini line waxing horrible.

bottyburpthebarbarian · 22/08/2010 18:57

Bumping

I know Bishoplyn has had this done and hope she'll be along shortly.

Bishoplyn · 22/08/2010 21:43

Fanfare of trumpets.....I've arrived :)

I started going for laser ages ago as I've got PCOS and had quite a lot of dark hair on my face. It took about 12 sessions to really clear my face and chin. I have to go about once every 3 - 4 months for a top up.

The place I go charges £98 for 20 mins. So when they finish face and chin I get other bits done. I've had my bikini line, underarms and feet done. Never have to shave/wax any of these now.

Great results and well worth it. It is def more painful than waxing

bottyburpthebarbarian · 22/08/2010 22:29

BL - hope you don't mind I bumped awaiting your expert knowledge lol

I will point out that I have never noticed any dark hair on BL's face, so it has definitely worked.

Bishoplyn · 22/08/2010 22:33

Thanks Botty.
Hope you're feeling bit better...?

bottyburpthebarbarian · 22/08/2010 22:37

Oh yeah BL

Have had matchmakers, fruitella and coffee and feel fine :-D
