is it wrong for a 33yo woman to have hair like Frankie from the Saturdays?

I just really really love her hair! I have it short already so getting her style would actually involve a bit of growing out at the front, but AIBU to tell my hairdresser about this tomorrow and get her to cut accordingly? Feel free to tell me that I will look ridiculous

Love it! I am 32 and considered having mine cut like this but decided my faceis too round. Blush

berri · 20/08/2010 12:53

I love it, I think it'd look great on the right face, but you'll have to prepare yourself to keep your head slightly tilted all the time to keep it out of your eyes!!!

Go for it, I bet it'll look fab.

I think unless you look like her and have amazing cheekbones and no podge and are prepared to do make-up every day then it could look a bit boyish/plain.

Also that side fringe thing starting waaaay over at the opposite ear would get right on my tits in my eyes.

miche8 · 20/08/2010 12:57

i love it, but shes young, thin and pretty.

I am fat with a round face - i would like a fat lesbian.

elportodelgato · 20/08/2010 13:47

thanks for the advice ladies
I am pg so not 'thin' as such Grin but goddammit I will be once this baby is out!
My hair is already short so already (quite possibly) look like a fat (pregnant) lesbian so not worried about that aspect. I'm just concerned it's a bit of a young trendy look which perhaps can't be pulled off by harrassed mum-of-two...

think I'll ask the hairdresser, and if she bursts out laughing, I'll have my answer

I've had that style before, bit of maintenance needed on it unless your hair is poker straight anyway.

Regular cuts and daily straightening of 'the long bit' needed.

I've also got a round face.if you can, try and have the long bit stopping below your chin also strategic blusher use to create cheekbones.

PYT · 20/08/2010 14:26

I have a friend in her early thirties with this hairstyle and it looks lovely (she is a short arse and on the big side).

I actually think it is a very flattering cut on all sorts of people, not just young stick thin beauties. I'd steer clear if you have a podgy face, though.

serenity · 20/08/2010 14:34

I've got something similar - asymmetric bob, with one side really long, and the other shorter and tucked behind my ear, and a sweeping fringe from a side parting, and I'm considerably older than 33...! I've only had complements since I had it cut, and they can't all be lying liars Grin Mine was influenced by Selma Blair in Hell Boy 2 rather than the Saturdays (as I have a longstanding grudge against them torturing one of my favourite songs)

Go for it.

nopinkplasticshite · 20/08/2010 19:02

I asked my hairdresser for this style and she said no...Shock !!
She said it required alot of maintenance and as a harrassed mother of two she doesn't think I could do it... Sad but I still love it. I think my long face (think horse) could carry it off but, to be fair, I AM crap at blow-drying my own hair and often go to bed with it damp, so she might have a point...

Having said that I think you should definately go for it and let us know if you love it and how easy or hard it is to maintain. Please!

elportodelgato · 20/08/2010 21:26

I'm going to go for it! I'll let you know about the reality tomorrow...

Do it I did and loved it I took a photo of Frankie in and went for it! I have gone even shorter now tho more like a pixie crop as I couldnt be bothered with the long bit any longer but i lasted 6 months before i got bored.

elportodelgato · 21/08/2010 20:51

I went today and I have to say I LOVE it! Yay!
