We are heading off for our first family UK holiday Blush. I know, I know, I should support our economy but being possessed of reptilian circulation, I need guaranteed sun on my bones to warm me thru at least once a year.

So, destination West Somerset & Devon.

Tell me, what should I pack?

I know there was a thread on here a couple of weeks ago but it all got rather silly and consumed by the correct pronunciation of "scones" and how best to dress them rather than the scone eaters themselves :o

I remember it!

lightweight waterproof coat and fleeces seemed a popular choice.

Amongst the usual stuff I took -

Extra hand towels for drying off in a downpour/after paddling.
Rubber type beach flip flops.
Picnic blanket with waterproof underside.
Warm socks and nightwear

None of my summerdresses and sandals never made it out of the bag.

Thanks morag :)

Am assuming it is all quite casual, no?

I cannot fit in my shorts (post-tummy tuck weight gain on thighs due to enforced bed rest......the irony Angry ). Will a-line cotton skirts and tees look okay with birkies for the beach? Or will I look totally out of place? Ditto tunic and leggings?

I would check the forecast before you go and pack accordingly.

What things will you be doing through the day and in the evening?

Geek - I can only find a 5 day forecast for the area we are visiting but yes, I have tried that. It's kind of that weird inbetween weather - light rain but not freezing cold.

Will mostly be doing running around on beaches (dog accessibility permitting).

Looking back at my photos I seem to be wearing jeans in all of them and it was June!
And a light cardi/wrap style thing when we went out (daytime).
I am a bit nesh though.

What you've mentioned will look fine and the tunic and leggings will be essential for leg coverage I think.

I wish I'd taken my sweatty betty yoga preg pants for lolling about in the evening too. (The modern day equivalen of trackie bottoms I believe)
