Are you fed up of summer clothes and wanting to embrace autumn/winter clothes?

I went too far with the maxi dresses this summer. Bought about 6 of them, worn them tonnes and I feel totally tired of them now. Am fed up of all summer stuff really. Want to get my feet back into boots and my legs into skinny jeans. Fancy a scarf or 2 as well. If I venture into such attire in August I am going to overheat though (in the car in particular). I am also dismayed to see the winter maxi dress is big for the next few months. I can't face it!

Anyone else edging gayly towards winter woollens?

I cannot fucking wait. I look forward to Autumn from about April onwards Grin

BelligerentGhoul · 18/08/2010 11:29

God yes. Got back from Greece yesterday and now feel the need for cashmere!

HalfTermHero · 18/08/2010 11:31

Thank goodness I am not alone. Will you chance a dalliance with a winter maxi dress do you think? I can see it being nothing but a misguided soggy, muddy hemmed nightmare in driving rain, snow and sleet.

I'd like to have a Summer first.

SwansEatQuince · 18/08/2010 11:34

We have been wearing our winter clothes for most of the 'summer'. No heatwave here, I'm afraid, just incessant rain and cold.

BelligerentGhoul · 18/08/2010 11:34

I think I might try my new black one on a dry Autumn day but not sure re: footwear. Want to wear it because I've only just bought it after spurning them for years (since my Goth days!). Have also got my eye on a nice slouchy maxi skirt but again, not sure how to wear it.

domesticsluttery · 18/08/2010 11:34

Me too.

I have lots of lovely autumn/winter purchases in my wardrobe (wool tunics, boyfriend cardigans, knee high boots etc etc) and am itching to wear them.

Had a big trying on session yesterday, but nearly passed out in the heat wearing boots, skinny jeans, a polo neck, a wool coat and a beret!

HalfTermHero · 18/08/2010 11:36

I think that is what is making it all that much more frustrating, sixty. There is no sun as such. Perhaps if we had day after day of blue sky and sun then I could motivate myself more on the summer fashion front. As it is though, it looks like winter though the window yet it is still too hot for boots etc. To tight (my legs) or not? That is the question.

Belliger, I think the way to go is with high heeled boots possibly. Either that or something like fly molls.

Domestic, you have described exactly my situation too!

BelligerentGhoul · 18/08/2010 11:43

What is a fly moll?

HalfTermHero · 18/08/2010 11:45

Fly of London, fly moll low wedge boot. A load of us got them for a total snip following a tip off on mums net last year. They are good for bad weather too.

We got them for £40! Smile

Thanks. Don't like wedge boots though - but love wedge shoes. I think those and a maxi would look rather too 90s grunge for my liking tbh. I'd like something a bit sleeker now I'm older and fatter!

tethersend · 18/08/2010 11:54

Please don't ruin my a/w visions of beauty with those fly monstrosities. They are a crime against feet Grin

I bought a vintage leopard fur coat the other day though.

HalfTermHero · 18/08/2010 11:54

I wish I could find the enthusiasm to dress my maxis for autumn. I salute you, belliger! You are thinking this through. Sleeker boots would be a great all purpose look too.

HalfTermHero · 18/08/2010 11:56

I would not have paid full price for them, Teather. I wear mine with my skinny jeans and for £40 they do alright Grin

I have boots very similar to these which work well with a maxi skirt, BG.

batsforlashes · 18/08/2010 13:01

Yes- I mistakenly thought I would not need any summer pregnancy clothes and am all set for AW with boots / legging etc so am FED UP of summer clothes.

Also can't wait to get the kids into their new clothes- most of their summer clothes are worn out at this stage but don't want to break open the Boden bonanza just yet !

Millie1 · 18/08/2010 14:03

Can't wait ... it's been another non-summer! I hate taking my boots off in the first place and am just living for the day I can get them out of their boxes again. Meanwhile, I'll buy a few new things and get the children's wardrobes ready to go. Roll on October!! (Try to do Sept in summer wear!)

BelligerentGhoul · 18/08/2010 14:25

Boot link not working, Tethers.

tethersend · 18/08/2010 15:05

Gah. Try again.

You'll probably hate them anyway Grin

BelligerentGhoul · 18/08/2010 15:41

:) Thanks. Not fond of those though, sorry. I am quite tempted by some proper brogues though, or by some two-tone ballet flats.

tethersend · 18/08/2010 16:56

Oooh, have a look here for both Smile

mamatomany · 18/08/2010 17:08

I had my poncho on today and roasted alive, but it looked good !
