Ok I buy shoes when they are a bargain and put away until I need them. About 2 yrs ago I bought nude coloured fabric sandals and a bag and put away never worn [just to let you know I am thrifty and do not have a shoe problem Blush ]I took them out today and someone has worn them [cue major freak out] MIL has been staying and borrowed them Angry, walked through shit mud took them off and put them back in box, the toes and heels are filthy
I have dry brushed them, wipes with a damp cloth, wiped with a wet cloth and washing powder, Please some one must know how to clean them please. I would make her/DP buy me a new pair but 1} I have not seen any I like and 2} DP cannot afford it.

Sorry, can't help with the shoes, but curious to know why dp should buy you new shoes when mil ruined them?

Buzzybb · 17/08/2010 15:34

It is his mother and his fault she is here, and one of them should pay. Sorry that part is probably unreasonable but at this moment in time I am in an over reacting rage.
I really need to clean them but just seem to be making it worse Sad

Have you spoken to her about it? What's her excuse?

Fimbo · 17/08/2010 15:52

I would put them in a pillowcase and wash them on a gentle cycle in the washing machine.

Buzzybb · 17/08/2010 15:53

I ranted Blush, from what I listened to they were in the wardrobe of the room she was in and matched her outfit so she wore them, She could not ask me as I was away for the weekend with the DC, I do allow my DN who lives with me play dress up with my stuff[ but she knows to ask and wash her feet first and clean shoes before they are put away] and that seems to be why MIL thought she could take them.
YunoYurbubson I am sorry but my second post sounds so rude and as I always tell Dc anger should never excuse rudeness or bad behaviour so Sorry

Fimbo ok I will try that but must check I have glue and spare crystals as I am guessing thay will come off. Thks

OP posts:
Fimbo · 17/08/2010 15:56

Ah sorry didn't realise they had crystals on them. I guess they are pretty much ruined anyway, so the washing machine might be last resort, although you can wash Crocs in a dish washer so maybe you could try that too as they wouldn't get bashed around so much.

Buzzybb · 17/08/2010 16:00

Fimbo I often add crystals/buttons/ribbon/lace to shoes so I don't mind having to re-crystal them, but these are so dirty/ stained that even adding anything it would show through so washing them might be the only chance of saving them

What about taking them to the dry cleaners? They may be able to help...

clam · 17/08/2010 16:45

Regardless of where they were kept, and whether you have sometimes allowed your DN to dress up, she seriously thought it would be OK to take and wear what were clearly brand new shoes, get them muddy etc... and put them back without saying anything?

Shock Shock Shock

tethersend · 17/08/2010 16:47

Agree clam- anyone who did this to my shoes wouldn't have to worry about getting any shoes dirty for a while. Not with two broken legs.

Buzzybb · 17/08/2010 17:29

Tethersend I would never have thought of the dry cleaners will have to remember that.
They have come out of the washing machine intact minus the crystals so I will reglue when dry,
The heels look scuffed now so I think I will attach lace if I can dye it to match [soaking in tea at the moment] and attach lace to some of the straps so it will match
Thanks guys you may have saved my shoes.
All this is for a Euro 150 pair of shoes I got in a sale for Euro 20 I may have issues [wanders off wondering is there help out there....]

Clam she is currently staying in my shoe room there are at least 120 pairs of shoes/boots in that room in stacking boxes Unfortunately I seem to remember exactly how many/what I own despite sometimes forgetting how many DC I have Blush Grin

luciemule · 17/08/2010 17:54

There must be a wedding shoe cleaning company somewhere....all the ones I googled though seem to be for satin wedding shoes.

tethersend · 17/08/2010 17:55

shoe room?

Just wear some others!

Buzzybb · 17/08/2010 19:43

Actually have none that will be the right colour, In my defence [not that I can actually have one] the 'shoe room' is the converted attic that is to be our bedroom as we are sleeping in the sitting room so MIL can have a bedroom, also all the shoes are sale or cheap [never spend more the £25 on shoes] and I decorate/ redesign according to need so most are unique to my style or taste I am betting she had a to really look to find a plain untouched pair
They are def drying cleaner though so that is good,
Lucimule that is also a good idea and they probably would not turn away work in the current climate but tbh it would probably cost me more then the actual value of my entire shoe collection Grin
Ok I am guessing I need to admit to having a shoe problem BlushSad Grin

tethesend my DP has learned never make that suggestion Grin, He passes no comment on my shoes and books or DC books and I pass no comment on his Star Wars/ Star Trek Collections. We managed to move Country and not declutter any of the above Blush

tethersend · 17/08/2010 21:13

I'm just jealous. I have hidden shoes all over the house and dream of a shoe room Grin

Buzzybb · 17/08/2010 21:27

lol I still hide some around the house and as we now have no attic I need to rethink hiding places [maybe lift some floor boards]

Kitchen cupboards are good. DP never goes in those Grin

Buzzybb · 17/08/2010 23:28

Mine does as he likes to make a mess cook, maybe veg drawer of fridge would work or even the cleaning cupboard or garden shed
