Fake tan and Philips Lumea - surely not??

I really want one of these IPL units, but I am concerned because I use fake tan all the time.

It says you can't tan when using the Philips Lumea, but does this mean - no tanning ever Couldn't cope with this at all - it's not really clear if you just don't tan on the day of treatment.

The increased pigmentation intensifies the effect of the laser and therefore increases the risk of potentially dangerous skin damage. So no tanning, fake or real.

No tanning! I won't splash out on one of them then.
