Boden Urban Biker Jacket

Wondered if anyone has this yet? I'm looking for something similar and like the fact that the top pockets are barely there so as not to overemphasise norkage. The arms look very skinny though which is a concern. Reviews online are a bit mixed.

I've got it and am v happy with it (although haven't actually worn it yet!). The arms and shoulders fit me fine - although there are some people saying the shoulders are tight. I guess it depends on your shape whether or not the cut works for you. I prefer something quite fitted so it works for me. Why don't you order a couple of sizes and give it a go - you can easily return free

purplepeony · 17/08/2010 12:44

I normally wear an 8 or a 10- got the 8 and returned as too small. Found the wax material very stiff.

tethersend · 17/08/2010 12:45

£125? Shock It looks like it's from Peacocks...

princesssusu · 17/08/2010 12:47

Thanks purple. Are you one of the boden reviewers? Are you not bothering with a size 10 then because of the fabric feel?

I like boden but at that price I would start looking at Barbour jackets instead tbh. Might as well get more bang for your buck iykwim.

princesssusu · 17/08/2010 14:09

I don't know what Peacocks is but I'm guessing that was a negative comment. The Boden logo all over the buttons is a big turn off but I can't justify the £400 for the genuine Belstaff article. But I do fancy a waxed fitted jacket and that one won't have my friends asking where I've left the motorbike.

I have looked at Barbour online, but this is for town not country and Barbour have an even bigger logo on the front than Boden...I know what I want in my head which is lethal as it probably doesn't exist. Thanks for the suggestion though, I will maybe reconsider.

I've looked at this one too, but I'm having a Barbour fitted utility jacket in Sandstone instead. Didn't like the lining on the Boden jacket, or the "Boden" on the buttons. here. My original Barbour is still wearable after 25 years, but I tend to wear DH's at the moment, so he is treating me to the new one to get his back.

noddyholder · 17/08/2010 14:15

prefer this

HalfTermHero · 17/08/2010 14:22

Noddy, that Barbour is exactly the kind of thing I had in mind for OP. It is urban looking and fit for a school gate yummy mummy. May as well pay a bit more to get a top quality band and style. Boden price is too close to barbour to justify it as being a good/sensible buy, imho.

noddyholder · 17/08/2010 14:24

I refuse to buy boden on principle Ok for kids but adults is shocking quality for the £.

purplepeony · 17/08/2010 14:34

I didn't buy the 10 becasue the material felt very stiff. TBH if £££ was no object I might have re-ordered,in the hope it would soften with wear, but when I am out and about I tend to wear a Berghaus fleece ( only on real country walks) and when I am not walking I like to wear a coat/jacket- I have ordered both the velvet pea jacket and the Greenwich reefer, to chose.
The Biker jacket didn't feel warm, as it doesn't have a thick lining and although I quite liked the jacket I don't think I'd wear it that much.

princesssusu · 17/08/2010 15:51

Thanks again. Think I will have to raid the Barbour stockist at the weekend. I have a bit of an issue with the quilting and the size of the logo but the shape is right. I feel a bit of a fraud as I own neither a dog or a horse and have children who would disown me if I ever turned up at the secondary school gate in Chanel let alone Barbour. I'm trying to aim for urban cool...wonder if All Saints do something similar?

I thought I wanted the Barbour biker style too til I went to try them on, it was a bit dark and heavy looking on me and the utility
jacket suited me better - the lining is a lovely sandy coloured check called "muted". You need to try the Barbour jackets on, they look totally different in the flesh and no two pictures of one style ever seem to look the same! The quality is great, and as I said before they last for years and you can have them repaired by Barbour if the zip goes or they are damaged in other ways

mrsrhodgilbert · 18/08/2010 16:36

River Island are doing a lovely waxed linen jacket in just this style. It may not stand up to the winter cold, but it looks great for autumn.

manicmamma · 19/08/2010 11:35

i have been coveting a barbour bike style jacket too.....but lack the £££££ but heh.....really like the river island one....and more my budget...thanks mrsnodgilbert...will check it out!!!!!

noddyholder · 19/08/2010 18:56

beccagrace2 · 19/08/2010 20:37

joules have a nice fitted wax jacket on their site (sorry no link)

tulpe · 19/08/2010 20:47

I have last years' Boden biker jacket.

I have had so much wear out of it, it has been worth every penny.

I sized up so that I could get a jumper beneath but it doesn't feel too roomy over long sleeve tee either.

I love that it looks good but that it is very practical for daily dog walks too :)
