Had nail varnish on for no more than 4 hours and it is chipping already - what is a good make (not too pricey??) that lasts ?

Opi nail varninsh is really very good and even the dark colours last. You should probably also invest in a good base and top coat. MAC do quite a good one!

I find that Barry M nail polish (£2.50-£3.00 a bottle - fantastic colours also!) is the best. (for me anyway)

It can last days, if not weeks, without chipping or flaking off.

DastardlyandSmugly · 14/08/2010 14:18

Essie is the best by a long distance imo.

electra · 14/08/2010 14:19

Chanel is the best for not chipping ime.

Jazzicatz · 14/08/2010 14:30

Chanel always chips on me - but they do have gorgeous colours!

electra · 14/08/2010 14:33

I also find OPI good and it's a bit cheaper than some of the others - I think about £10.

kando · 14/08/2010 14:51

Avon! I put on 2 coats of colour plus 1 of clear topcoat and it can stay chip-free for weeks!

DastardlyandSmugly · 15/08/2010 07:40

Chanel always chips on me too. OPI is good but not as good as Essie.

onimolap · 15/08/2010 07:46

I've yet to have a chip in Avon speed dry in navy that I got earlier this year: I wear it for a few days at a time. When I got it, it was on a 2for1 offer so worked out at £2.50. I find Mavala lasts well too: have had emerald green on my toes - chip-free and still nice and glossy at 10 days.

tefloncoatedarmbow · 15/08/2010 11:21

avon more my price range so will give this a go first - i do like the navy !!!

thanks for advice.

Use a proper base-coat and topcoat as well. Also, cleaning the nails properly with a bit of alcohol or nail polish remover without any oils really helps the base coat stick.

At sallys they have a very good ones..or OPI from London college of beauty therapy.
