Can I start the first boots thread of the season?

When the boots come into the shops I want to be bloody well ready and get a decent pair instead of trailing round the shops in December when there is nothing left.

So my question is . . .

WHERE sells boots for people with skinny calves?

I want to be queueing outside as soon as they get 'em in this year.

Please.

I really, really like those, orangina.

What would you wear them with?

moragbellingham · 13/08/2010 16:42

So, should I resign my heeled boots to just for dresses now Sad?
I only bought them at the end of last winter! They are a little bit chunky.

orangina · 13/08/2010 16:48

I was just filling up my basket at topshop actually, but can't get my student discount to work, so will have to go to the shop now.

Was thinking of these and this.....

traceybath · 13/08/2010 16:50

I think heeled knee-highs are going to look very right with the full midi skirts that are going to be in all the shops soon - well according to vogue anyway Smile

And lol at the pink jumper.

Being inclined to big boobs and slimmer legs - am always wary of that sharon look Grin

alarkaspree · 13/08/2010 16:50

Hobbs boots are narrow-fitting I think. According to my friends with slim legs.

orangina · 13/08/2010 16:51

And re: tasty black biker boots AlistairSim, I am desperate to save up all my pennies and buy these

(sigh)

AlistairSim · 13/08/2010 16:53

You have impeccable taste, orangina.

orangina · 13/08/2010 16:55
Grin

you are too kind!

BalloonSlayer · 13/08/2010 17:27

Thanks for the pointer tracey. Grin Being three years out of style doesn't bother me too much due to my general decrepitude but I will take your advice and try calf-length not knee length this year.

The trouble is that skinny jeans tend to look a bit bootleg on me so by the time you get to the calf they are getting a bit too loose, I'd worry . . . hmm . . . perhaps I'd better try some of the shops recommended here rather than mail order. I am far too past-it for super-skinnies.

I really wanted a list of shops I can look in and try when there's lots to try rather than spending two months coveting everyone else's and then finding nothing for me but buckets. I am really grateful for all the suggestions.

God I love talking boots. Almost as good as talking handbags Blush

I love fly boots and have these in black and brown

They are pretty slim in the calf and the zip doesn't go all the way up the boot so you don't put holes in your tights when you wear them.

moragbellingham · 13/08/2010 18:18

I too have spent the last three years having babies/being pregnant.
Fat, fluid-filled calves fitted quite nicely into biker boots, so I wanted something a bit more feminine.
Now I'm now thinking that I'm liking the Linda McCartney/seventies mom fashion as I'm veering towards it by default anyway!!

purplepeony · 13/08/2010 18:31

Not sure if someone had already posted this but you need to go to www.duo.com

If you can get to a fitting room, great, but they are very helpline on the phone about sizing.
I have several pairs and have my eye on Viola this year to wear with skinny jeans- I will need to size up as I usually buy a 32/33 calf from them.

employmentlawquery · 17/08/2010 16:47

seventies mom?

employmentlawquery · 17/08/2010 17:05

What is a full midi skirt btw? knee length?
