What do you wear on your lips?

Apart from a Smile!

I've been wearing benetint lip balm all summer. Easy to wear but doesn't stay on too long Hmm. Now ready for a change.
The choice is a little confusing though:
lip balm
lip gloss
lip stain/tint
lip stick
Confused

I'm nosey to know what other people wear?

I always wear gloss. I have quite full lips and I feel too painted and clown-like in lipstick. Usually a Mac or Revlon gloss in a peachy-nude colour. I need to find a good lip balm though so will watch this thread. Kiehls do a good moisturising gloss but it is rather expensive given my habit of misplacing things like that.

partyhats · 13/08/2010 09:56

The best lipgloss I have ever used and believe me have tried ALL the premium brands is clinique full potential gloss. Has a slightly plumping effect too.

MissWooWoo · 13/08/2010 10:28

I'm a big fan of balms. Carmex cherry is lovely, really silky. I also like Burt's Bees replenishing balm with pomegranate oil, gorgeous smell. I do wear lipstick on the odd night out but always blot it down as just feel too, dunno, muttony and prefer to overdo it on the eyes. I love the look of glosses but find them incredibly annoying as my hair always ends up sticking to my lips - would be interested if there is a non hair sticking high gloss out there?

monkeysmama · 13/08/2010 10:43

I hate my teeth so am no fan of drawing attention to my mouth. I wear Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream on my lips. It's like a thick gel and makes my lips super soft and glossy. Peacocks do a lip plumper/gloss in a pink tube with black writing which is good too (& cost c£1)

lucykate · 13/08/2010 10:47

chapstick

ReneRusso · 13/08/2010 10:53

Maybelline superstay 2 step gloss thingy

scattyspice · 13/08/2010 11:36

Yes, I loose things too! I also think matt lipstick ageing and gloss too sticky. Although No 7 is more buttery than stcky (but needs regular re application). I don't want anything too shiny/glittery for daytime.

I'm tempted to try a liquid stain Hmm.

Rose tinted Vaseline in the day (its fab on cheeks too), nude-ish gloss at night... lipstick looks ridiculous on me for some reason

RamblingRosa · 13/08/2010 13:16

I love lipstick but I'm not often feeling confident enough to wear it. I got a gorgeous bright red Elizabeth Arden lippy in T K Maxx for £5 the other day and it looks gorgeous but it feels a bit too much for daytime and I never go anywhere in the evenings :(

So, in spite of having lots of lovely lippies, I usually just have Carmex or Vaseline on my lips.

Actually, right now I've got a lovely Bobbi Brown lippy on.

FallingWithStyle · 13/08/2010 13:19

Mac lip stain in purposefully red - slightly deeper, bloodier (dykwim?) natural lip colour.
I love it because its like a felt tip so is easy to get it on neat around the edges.

Otherwise its just one of 3,567 glosses and balms.

AbsOfCroissant · 13/08/2010 13:24

I have been contemplating this, as at the moment it's carmex or nothing, and for work now I think it's starting to look a bit unprofessional.

I do have the Lancome juicy tube in some fruit flavour or other, or a Chanel nudey lipstick. Might try the Mac lip stain ... sounds nice.

I would love to use a nude-y one more, but my lips are naturally quite pink IYSWIM.

makeupmummy · 13/08/2010 13:28

Have been wearing lots or red lipstick this summer: Chanel in Scarlet, and a really lovely Guerlain one. Got to apply with lip brush, tho can also work as a less defined stain by putting bit on and rubbing with finger. Have also been dabbling with gloss, which I don't usually do as doesn't stay on so well, but with plenty reapplication am liking it! Estee Lauder do nice ones which don't taste funny either.

scattyspice · 13/08/2010 16:10

Ooo lots of good tips Smile. Like the felt pen one, sounds easy!

Tend to use nothing tbh but got a nice Benefit gloss for my birthday so I've been using that.

I love using other make-up stuff but I just don't get on with lipsticky stuff.

traceybath · 13/08/2010 16:17

Balm wise - I like byterry or vaseline.

Am also using a Bobbi Brown lip treatment thing which is like a cross between a balm and a lipstick.

Or chanel or Dior lipgloss or sometimes a chanel lipstick.

Want a plummy/red colour for winter though - someone recommended chantecaille on another thread.

Bunbaker · 13/08/2010 16:44

I love lipstick. It would be my desert island must. I have very pale lips and look washed out unless I have some colour on them.
I use the rose vaseline, the Bodyshop glossy lip balm, Virgin Vie sheer gloss lipsticks, l'Oreal lipgloss, a l'Oreal lipstick and a no7 lipstick.

I prefer lipsticks that are sheer and have a gloss to them. They are so flattering. I tend to go for pinky red colours because they suit me best.

Meglet · 13/08/2010 16:46

Carmex or Burts Bees lip balm.

Both are a bit 'stingy' Smile

pointydog · 13/08/2010 17:02

I wear lipstick. I quite like my mouth.

And use burt's bees balm to keep me going through the day. I like the minty tingly feel.

purplepeony · 13/08/2010 18:29

Never leave the house without at least one of them!
I use Clinique Buttershine- something like that- which is half lippie and half gloss, or Clinique lipgloss.

maize · 13/08/2010 18:59

Dior Lipgloss in 157

Loooooooooooooove

Not sticky at all and lasts for ages.

I am using a No.7 one for work at the moment just to use it up, its mega mega sticky (liplicious 'bon bon') BUT I have got used to it very quickly and now it doesn't feel sticky even though I know it is (iykwim) so I think your lips adapt!

QueuePosition3 · 13/08/2010 19:00

FallingWithStyle · 13/08/2010 19:03

Every day, QueuePosition3? Or just for special occasions?

purplepeony · 13/08/2010 19:10

and is that both sets of lipe Queue??

JackieNo · 13/08/2010 19:13

Most of the time, \link{http://uk.lizearle.com/products_details.php?range=4&groupid=17\Liz Earle Superbalm}, but I also have a rather elderly lip stain by Philosophy that's good, and I really like the \link{http://www.boots.com/en/No7-Sheer-Temptation-Lipstick_1103170/\No 7 Sheer Temptation} which is a cross between a lipgloss and a lipstick - v easy to apply.
