Has anyone actually spent the money and bought one? If so does it work? And most importantly, does it hurt??????

If it works i'd be prepared to spend and get one asap, but i'm never sure about the reliability of the reviews on amazon etc, so thought i'd ask here first!

I have been looking into this online recently. The Philips and Remington models are not permanent (so you need to keep using them or the hair grows back) because they operate at a lower power (only up to 6 of whatever-the-units-are, while you need at least 7 to get permanent results). The Boots one (www.boots.com/en/Boots-Smooth-Skin-Intense-Pulsed-Light-hair-reduction-system_117122/?cm_sp=Boots--Smooth_Skin--BT_9094) here is higher power so does give permanent results (you'll still need to use it lots of times to get all the hair follicles at different stages of their life cycles, though. And they do warn that if you get hormonal changes you might get new hair coming through that you'll need to rezap).

I've seen pretty consistently good reviews of the Boots one all over the place so am probably going to get one when I get paid this month.

I'm not too sure that I would want to risk doing this myself at home personally....

I've had Laser hair removal professionally at the Harley Medical Group in Cheltenham and it was conducted by fully trained Nurses.

I hope someone who may of used this themselves will be able to give a more informed decision but personally I would rather save up and get the treatment completed professionally.

I also found that I didn't need the full recommended course of treatments to eliminate the hair regrowth and I have very dark hair.

I'm using the Philips Lumea machine on my legs & bikini, and also having a professional hair removal course on my 'tache in a salon.

Early days with the Philips machine - it does seem to be having an effect already after only 3 goes (although the Professor is quite right - you basically have to keep doing it every 4 weeks for the rest of your life!)

Having legs and bikini done professionally is just too costly for me, but for a small area like the upper lip it's worth splashing out for a salon treatment.

WMUA - (sorry for the hijack) which machine was used at your HMC in Cheltenham?
I have also had it done and I have naturally dark hair with pale skin and have just had my 12th!! session.
There is obviously something going wrong with the machine or the operation of it at my HMC. and I need to complain.

.....And that is why I'm going to save up for the Boots machine so I can do it myself!

Does it usually have £50 off the price - like a permanent special offer or is it a genuine reduction does anyone know?

Sorry for late reply. I don't get on here that often.

I had treatment done using 'The Alex' APOGEE machine which is operated by nurses and is a class 4 machine. Apparently only nurses can use this strength of machine and a lower class is often used in salons.

One of my best friends works for the group so if you want any more info just let me know.

I have the Boots machine. I bought it full price but they seem to reduce it by £50 every couple of months.

It seems to be making some difference, but I still have hairs. But they are very strong hairs growing out of moles that were removed so may be stronger than normal.

It doesn't hurt, certainly much less so than electrolysis or waxing, just a little sting.
