boyfriend cardigans - buttoned up or unbuttoned?

As the title says, what is your opinion? Does it depend on your shape? Does it depend on what you wear with it?

I usually go with unbuttoned. Except if it's freezing and it's flapping about everywhere, but that'd be the only time I'd fasten it.

Makes me laugh the way 'boyfriend' is just a new word for 'baggy'.

I always wear unbuttoned because I have a big tum / bum region. I guess if you had a very boyish figure it would be ok done up.

Would you ever wear it buttoned with a skinny belt? I fancy one this year for warmth but at 5'3" and size 10 I feel it might look like a too short dress.

See I have been wearing mine unbuttoned, but as it heads towards autumn I'm thinking it would be warmer to do it up! I've seen a few people wearing them done up and they look OK, but I can't decide.

I saw a young girl wearing one fastened, with a belt over the top, it looked good. Don't think I'd get away with that though.

if you are thin i think they look great buttoned up, with a skinny belt on top.

I'm a size 14 with a tummy, it wouldnt look right on me, so unbuttoned for me.

I always wear mine unbuttoned but sometimes belt it like that with a skinny belt. Can be surprisingly flattering around the waist with a black cardi as it tricks the eye into taking an inch or so off each side of the waist
