pregnant evening dress

Hello,
I need a posh frock for a work evening function when I will be about 10 weeks pg and trying not to let on. I?m 6 weeks pg now and can?t fit my bust into anything I already have, and my tummy looks like it will be going the same way. (I freely admit that it is greedy lardiness at this stage ? but it?s there!) Can anyone point me in the direction of something that will be forgiving for a pg (or fat) figure but not blatantly pregnant? I?m size 12 / 14, 5?4?. Would prefer not to spend too much as I doubt whatever I end up with will be flattering once I?m back to my usual shape (I hope.)
Thanks in advance, style gurus.

Try ASOS maternity range - they have some lovely evening wear which is adapted from the main range.

Do you need full-length ballgown/evening dress type or shorter cocktail dress?

curryeater · 11/08/2010 12:32

I think I need more of a cocktail dress type thing, although with all the maxi day dresses around I expect a lot of slightly less formal evening wear is probably long too, or does it not apply in that way?

I will look at ASOS, thanks - just not sure I want to go in a maternity dress if there is no missing that I'm pg if I wear one - perhaps I want a sort of not-too-fitted compromise - in which case I suppose they are guaranteed to look v. unflattering. Maybe I bite the bullet and go maternity.

Anything babydoll or maxi generally. I look pregnant when wearing either style so hopefully people would just put it down to the shape of the dress.

I got away, and am still managing to wear a lot of the empire style dresses that are around from non maternity ranges ... this seasons fashion has been brilliant for those if us who are hiding pregnancies !!

Next have had a good selection, and also Monsoon ...

Good luck

The ASOS maternity range is great for early pregnancy as well as later on. The styles are just the same as the non-maternity except they cut for your stomach. They have some flattering styles that look lovely and not maternity like at all! Then you could wear the dress again later on in your pregnancy. Good luck!
