Has anyone successfully found any skirts/trousers for pear shape?

I am sick to death of trying on skirts and trousers that gape madly at the waist.

Anyone found anywhere that caters for the small waist in relation to large hips brigade?

Watching with interest as I have hourglass figure.

And belts don't help.

A-line skirt worn slightly low?

I have found success buying from Ebay and asking sellers to specify hip and waist measurements. Also Boden give detailed measurements, so I order stuff that sounds as though it will fit based on those.

The Boden crinkle fit skirts have been quite good this summer for fitting hips and not gaping.

Dresses are of course another solution!

Yes I generally have to resort to crinkle skirts but I would like, just once, to have a fitted style that fitted. I am currently wearing a white stuff denim one which is A line but I don't really like wearing it at what feels like half mast.

i am this. elasticated waists help. a line skirt, but just above the knee, short.
wrap dresses and dresses suit me ALOT.
I have big bust, tiny waist, huge hips.

I was quite keen on this skirt - it is more flared than it looks in the picture, and has a nice wide elasticated waist.
Which gapes and gapes and gapes.
If you are going to make a skirt with an elasticated waist why not make it a bit smaller?
Aaargh.
And so many skirts with elastic are just granny-like. I just don't know where to bother looking for clothes.

I am a pear and brought www.warehouse.co.uk/maxi-skirt/Definitives/warehouse/fcp-product/301443 this last week which I love. It is lovely fabric, very flattering and has an elasticated waistband so it fits nice round the waist. They have it in several colours.

I find dresses are better than seperates anyway. I hate too much bulking around my waist as it adds the illusion of extra weight.

Yes I like dresses but for work, skirts and trousers just seem easier and less formal - it's a pretty non-formal dressing environment - if I wear a dress everyone feels the need to comment!

tis very hard to find work trousers or skirts to fit me. they just aren't made for people with small waists and big hips. i normally have about 4 inches gapping open on the waist. pain. in the .... rear/arse/waist !!

Kat I work in a very informal environment and wear dresses most days. I did get a couple of comments to begin with a year or so ago but it didn't last long and no one bats an eyelid now. In summer I wear either cute little summer dresses or maxi dresses and in winter I go for jumper dresses or tunics with leggings and boots.

I think choosing one item to wear a day is much easier than trying to coordinate two seperates

i am at work. wearing a dress. no one has ever made a comment.
i mean apart from the occassional nice top/nice dress etc. nothing specific about dresses.

have you tried the new website TheTrouser Room.com?!?!? specialising in pear shapes - I ordered a pair (excuse pun) and they were great!

I just open up the waistband at the sides on all mine and add some elastic on teh back half. I then make sure that I wear tops which come below my homemade adjustment in case it is obvious (which often it isn't)

Not ideal but it works for me.

Gap jeans are the only ones that fit me properly. I don't wear formal trousers very often so can't help with that... Don't have many skirts either and those I do have have elasticatef waists...

I've just had a look at The Trouser Room Jsvs - thanks for the link. But looking at their measurements they don't seem to be making much concession to the pear shape - it's only an extra 1cm on the hips from their regular fit as far as I can see.
