White to a wedding evening reception?

Is it acceptable? Do the etiquette rules extend on the the evening do as well?

I want to wear this dress:

But don't want to put the bride out by wearing her colour! (The dress is available in red but red doesn't suit me by the way)

not sure. think i wouldn't wear white just to be safe from any snide comments behind my back!

I don't think I would personally. It's a nice dress though!

Also - it's an end of summer wedding if that makes any difference!

Ah ok thanks- don't want to offend. Friendly with the bride - but she is possibly more easily offended and/or sensitive than other people I know..

I was going to go with nice bright shoes/jewellery, but will steer clear of it now I think!

It might work with some coloured chunky accessories. It also depends on the bride and how important it is to her.

Yeah that's it really I suppose and I don't know her well enough to know the answer to that so I think I'd better be cautious!

Is the pencil dress/galaxy dress style dressy enough for an evening do? I sometimes think the simple classy styles are a casse of less is more, especially when accessorised well.
